Another Roll Call
Hi there, I had my LapBand done on Dec. 14th, 2007 and .have my first check up on Jan 21st. Cannot wait to weigh in. I have not stepped on a scale since right before surgery as I wanted my focus to be on healing and getting into an exercise routine. I am addicted to my treadmill and my Nike plus shoe sensor that monitors all of my walks. It's fun. I am anticipating my first fill although my friend brought up a good point, when I say i'm full after eating is it a psychological feeling or physical. I'm pretty sure it's a little of both. Does anybody have any thoughts on this. I have not thrown up, very happy about that since it is the number one thing I cannot stand to do. Never would have made it as a bulemic. I am happy to report my tight pants are now my baggies and i am able to get into a pair of capris that did not fit this past summer, 2 sizes smaller that what I wore before the banding. Oh the best day after surgery was when I didn't need my husband to help me out of bed. He's wonderful, before he would leave for work he would put on my shoes so just in case I needed to go somewhere i was ready. Best to all,

Kris,
How did you go so long without weighing yourself? I know this is wrong, but I weigh myself naked every morning just before I jump in the shower.
I see we had our surgery about the same time. I go for my postop appointment 1/17. Not sure if she will fill me or not. I am losing, but also am finding that I can eat more and more. Not a good sign. I heard that my Dr. does fills at 6 weeks, and I am only one week shy.
What are Nike Shoe Sensors? Never heard of them...........something to keep track of your steps?
Hi Brandon,
as far as the weighing myself, I just have all my life focused on the numbers on the scale and it can make or break a day. I get negative thoughts and feeling like i've done something wrong if I don't lose weight, so I just came to the conclusion that for the first 6 weeks I was not going to bother with a scale. I would determine my progress by my cloths, if they were loose, how I felt physicially, if my rings were loose, etc. I am very excited to see how the weigh in goes. You have to let me know how your fill went. I am still able to eat the 3 oz of food and feel full, so I don't know if i will need a fill yet. The Nike plus sensor I spoke of is the coolest thing I have ever got! It is this little sensor you put, if you want to purchase the 100 dollar shoes to go with it, in your shoe and then this other sensor hooks into your Ipod. you calibrate your shoe sensor with the Ipod and it keeps track of your miles, calories burned, pace and the amount of time you've walked or ran. Then, when you go online and into your itunes acct. it automatically downloads all your information to the nike plus sight and tracks your work outs. I actually did not buy the shoes as I have feet like fred flintstone and nike's don't fit me well. They for some reason cause my feet to go numb. So on Amazon.com if you type in Nike plus you wil also get not only the sensor but a little pouch you can put on the shoes laces and it works just the same. That is what I did, saves a 100 bucks and I got lime green which looks adorable on my orange tennies. Hey how do you get the ticker and sparkly names on the forum? I have tried and can't figure it out. Not terribly computer crafty. Kris
I had my lap-RNY almost four years ago. I lost 175 pounds and so far have been able to maintain it. I did gain about fifteen pounds last year. I took that as a sign that it was time to do my knee surgery, because the pain was impacting my mobility and willingness to exercise. I had total knee replacement surgery in December. I am 46 - young for a knee replacement, but I know I needed it earlier than most because of all the weight I carried around. Still on the mend, but am really looking forward to becoming even more active this year. I lost at lease ten of the fifteen last time I weighed.
I had a great experience with my WLS post op. Never threw up, and I am able to tolerate pretty much anything. I found this site very helpful all along the way. Any question or feeling can usually be helped on here. I am so grateful to my surgery and the new lease it gave me on life.
