Another Roll Call

I absolutely hated that sleep study..........and theCPAP machine, well, lets just say, I never, ever, got the hang of it.  Ended up returning it.  What was so strange, is my brother swore by his machine. He used it one night and he was in love with it......he slept soundly for the very first time in a long time.   And I know tons of other people who swear by their machines. Guess I was just not one of the lucky ones!

Don't know about being unlucky.  It could be that the mask didn't fit you. During the latest sleep study, I went thru two masks before the third one worked out for me.  I had to take all three masks home with me.  When I got home, I determined that all three masks are adjustable for fit.  But I think that I will stick with the third one if I need a CPAP machine. Nobody else in my immediate or extended family uses CPAP machines.  One of my aunts went thru a sleep study in California years ago due to her asthma and has to use a BiPAP machine with an oxygen concentrator to sleep.  Both are HUGE beasts!

Hi, I thought I would post here to introduce myself to some of you. I had RNY surgery on March 7, 2007at OHSU. I am 10 months and 5 days out. I have lost over 200 lbs. I have just started to buy size 18 pants, I haven't seen this size in over 15 years.  My life has totally changed, I have one now. LOL I was in a wheel chair to go anywhere pre-op. I can now enjoy going and doing almost anything I set my mind too!!!! What a blessing.  Check out my profile, I just uploaded another picture from today. Thanks for reading, Christina

I thought I would play along...I went to Dr. Alvarez in Mexico for a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy on 6/18/07.  After a super easy recovery, I have lost 81 pounds and gone from a size 20-22 to size 6-8.  I am currently 4 pounds below my goal weight of 150 pounds.  I have tons more energy and realy enjoy doing more things and going more places now.  My handsome fireman hubby also had a VSG and has maintained at his goal weight for 1 year so far. Keep up the good work everyone and I hope to be talking to you all again soon!

I had an RNY at OHSU with Dr. O'Rourke on July 24, 2007.  I have lost almost 72 pounds, without much exercising, as I have three bad discs in my back and had to have surgery to remove one of them on December 17th.  I'm up and walking around now, so with the Physical Therapy and added walking, the weight loss should pick up a bit.  I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of my surgery.  I eat all I want, which usually isn't much, and I feel so much better not lugging all that extra weight around.  Linda

Hi All, It's been a while.  I had a revision from a previous WLS to RNY on July 13th, 2007.  I don't think my weight loss is as good as everyone else, and I had somewhat expected that since I was "revised".  So far, I'm down 52 lbs.   It just isn't coming off anymore, and I now realize I need to diet and exercise as if I hadn't had a RNY.  Weird, I think.  But, I'm grateful for what I did lose and hopefully the rest will come off easier than before surgery, but I don't know.  I'm going to Curves, doing their diet and hopefully the scale will move again.  Right now I'm disappointed, since I went through so much and almost died!  Oh well.  At least I'm alive and healthy and I guess that is what matters most. I know what you mean about lugging around all that extra weight............it's amazing, isn't it.  I feel so much better too......definitely have a ways to go, but am well on my way.

A lot of people probably know my story, but I had a mini gastric bypass on 11/15/06 in Las Vegas. The surgeon bypassed too much intestine and I lost way too much weight becoming malnourished.  I just completed a revision surgery with Dr. Deveney at OHSU Nov. 30.  He put my intestines back together and now I have a vertical gastric sleeve left. I'm on tube feed still and starting to eat, but with trouble.  I'm having trouble swallowing.  I was also in ER last night with what they think was a gall stone that passed.  I'm following up this week for hopefully more tests.   I lost 112 lbs. at my lowest weight.  I only needed to lose about 80.  So I need to gain quite a bit to get to my goal weight.  I have gained 6 lbs. since surgery and have been holding steady at 96 lbs, for a week or so.

Sorry to read about the gall stone Kim..............are they as painful as kidney stones?  I know from experience that those are excrutiating (sp). Glad to see that you have gained 6 pounds....and I imagine you are pleased that you are actually gaining instead of losing!
