the bad news is the lifestyle change is at times frustrating, i like Chinese food i cant eat it , i like eating a chicken breast i cant eat but a few bites then i hurt

Coach, I couldn't eat chicken breast either - and Chinese food is still a problem for me, unless I eat the veggies only style chow mein with tofu.  IT is still too sweet for me, and so I also do better with soup.  I also found that Mexican food is too hard for me to eat....it's too spicy.  My best bet, like you, is soup and mashed potatoes.  My favorite is YAMS!  I bake them!  I also do very well with Acorn Squash!  I am seven months out, but find that I can do sole and cod for high protien fish - but Halibut is a little dry.  I tried crab one night when we were at the coast, and I didn't do well with it at all...it just didn't stay down. I can't eat canned tuna, but the freshly canned tuna that my sister-in-law puts up every summer is one of my best bets.  I also find that I crave a tuna sandwich....and so I have discovered that rice cakes are my best bet - because bread doesn't work for me at all.  I remember a support group that I went to right after my surgery.  Most of the women were eating hamburgers on the bun.  I still can't eat any bread at all.  So the rice cakes are my best bed....and not nearly as many calories or carbs as a piece of bread...I still have to take tiny bites and chew well! Good luck to you finding things you can eat as time passes it gets better!  Good job on your weight loss!

Wow George, you're doing great!  I have trouble with chicken too.  I actually do really well with steak!  Mostly I'm a soup and cottage cheese kind of gal myself. Linda

Its definitely a learning process.  The funny thing about lap band is that one day I can eat steak the next -- its the devil!  So, although I've learned, it keeps changing the rules on me! Have you tried any type of crunchy coating for the chicken then cooking it in the oven?  Could be the texture.  I know for me that crunchy stuff goes down better than soft and mushy. Lori
