More surgery for me - but not WLS
I fell in late May and landed with the bottom of my spine right on the corner of my lawn mower engine. I herniated three discs, and one of them has gotten really bad. On Monday, I have to go in and have a microdiscectomy and foraminotomy -- that means they will go into my back with a little tube and suck out the bits of disc that are pressing on my sciatic nerve. The pain down the back of my legs has been so intense for the past few weeks -- I'm really anxious to have this done. I have a big pile of old movies and will have the Christmas tree to stare at, so I guess I'm all set.

Linda, this sounds a bit dangerous, but I sure hope it helps. Sciatic nerve pain is the worst thing to have to endure. I hope all goes well. It would be a great Christmas gift to have pain relief, finally. How long will you be away from home - hospital, clinic, or wherever you'll be? I hope you have someone there who will be able to help you. Keep us posted. Donna
Well, the good news is they believe I will be able to come home the same day. I may have to stay overnight, but I hope not. My niece works near my house, so she will be able to come and check on me. I'll be off work for three weeks while I recover. I have lots of movies, books, knitting, etc., to keep me from being bored.

Ouch!!! Your accident was a terrible thing to happen!!!
Looks like your surgery will be minimally invasive and you can probably go home on the same day. Will it be done at Sacred Heart?
Best of luck on your safe and successful surgery and recovery!

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010. Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.
Yes, I have asked to go home the same day. All they do when you stay in the hospital is wake you up to take your temperature and blood pressure, and I surely don't need that. I just want to come home and SLEEP! I have all my PT Scheduled for the beginning of January, so I should be all set.
