I actually had to bring mine to use post-op and it was a good thing, too.  Because the morphine depressed my central nervous system my oxygen saturation really fell -- and that's when I was ON CPAP.  I can only imagine how much lower I would have gone. Lori

Bran - Dr. O'Rourke told me that if I wasn't compliant by using my machine for at least two weeks before the surgery, he wouldn't do it.  I suffered through using the darn thing, and I tried using it when I got home too.  Finally, after dropping about 30 pounds, I slept really well one night and had wild dreams.  I stopped using it after that -- my type of sleep apnea prevented me from entering REM sleep (when you dream).  Every time I would enter REM sleep, I would stop breathing and wake up.  I couldn't remember dreaming at all.  Once I started dreaming, I figured I was in the clear.  I sleep great now that I've lost 61 pounds.  Anyway, I'll bet the doc will make you use it. Thanks all for the info. Looks by what everyone has said that hopefully I won't have to retake the test. I will get my results in 4-6 weeks they said. Does it really take that long?

When I had my sleep study, I got the results back that same day.  I was lucky  I did not have to wait. That was a little over 2 yrs ago,  You are having your surgery thru Kaiser, correct?  I would'nt think it would take that long.  The only real waiting that I had to go thru, was the appts with Julie and Brenda, it was a long slow drawn out process.  It took me 18 months to get from orientation to surgery, but the wait was well worth it. I had my sleep study in CA, through Kaiser, and they had the results within 2 weeks.  Then they set me up with an appointment to get the Cpap.  I was not happy with using the cpap either, but I have sleep apnea really bad, and it has made a difference.  I have closterphobia and did not like the mask, so they ordered the nasal pillows for me, and they are more comfortable.  If it weren't for my husband encouaging me to wear it every night, I would not use it either.  Hope that everything works out guys.  take care,  and god bless u all,  Deb

I was advised by the NP at the sleep disorders clinic that my sleep study will be yielding 800-1,200 pages of data.  It takes time to analyze the data and then prepare a summarized report.   Because my sleep study will be occuring during the Christmas season, many employees will be taking the holidays off.  That is why my appointment for my sleep study interpretation will be about a month after my sleep study.

Wow I did not even think about lack of staff to interpret study due to the holidays. I bet that may play a part in my study and why I was told 4-6 weeks but I will give them a call in 2 and see how things are going. I have my appointment with Brenda and Julie on Dec. 4th I am getting nervous about that but excited too. I have been going to the Kaiser support group here in Longview since June and the ladies there have given be a lot of info. I also took the 5 wk class in July to Aug and that helped me a lot too so I am hoping I am right on track with the requirements. I hear thought it is common to have to go back to see Julie and Brenda several times though?

you will probably see Brenda and Julie atleast 2 maybe 3x before your big appt with the surgeon.  Nothing to be worried about, be sure and take in your food and exercise diary, Brenda will want to see them.  She will just look thru them and ask you a few questions, who is your surgeon going to be?  Just curious.
