Lap Band surgery Sept 23..6 weeks ago. Everything went great. All incisions are healed. The port incision is healed but is still red and itchy and tender. No fever, infection, or bumps. Nurse doesn't know what it is. Says I am the first to complain. At the support group a bunch complained about the same thing. Their conclusion is candida. That is caused by too much sugar.. No sugar here. Doctors poo-poo anything they can't throw a pill at. Any one else with this problem? Any solutions besides over the counter benedryl, cortisone? kandy

Wow!  I don't really know.  Maybe see a dermatologist?  I'd definitely be concerned if it were me, that's certain.  Has a doctor actually seen you? Lori

Candita is not caused by eating too much sugar per se. It means a yeast infection, athletes foot, etc. they are all the same. I had a doctor tell me once that overweight people (he was very careful in his wording here :)) seem to produce sweet sweat and it makes us suseptable for yeast problems. It can show up any place on your body that gets sweaty. I have found that rubbing the area with hydrogen peroxide helps- Tina
