stomach PAIN

My husband had Lap RNY, on 8/30 with Dr. Tersignin in CoosBay Oregon. He has lost 42 or 43 pounds feels great except!!!  after he eats a bite or 2 of different things his stomach HURTS!!!!   He was eating fish, was good with that 3 or 4 times, then last night POOF!! after one bite.. pain! Runny oatmeal has done this as well as crumbled LEAN ground beef , drained... he finally gags enough to throw up, but it is only slime / mucus stuff.. no food!  this actually started with taking his pills. They (Dr's office) told him to space out the pills / vitam.  every hour, so he did.. but now food is doing it. Anybody have any ideas? or suggestions? thanks,   hiswife!!

Hello, He should definitely check with his surgeon... it sounds like he might have a stricture, and even if it isn't, it should be checked out.  I would recommend asking about it sooner, rather than later.  If it is a stricture, it's an easy fix. Sounds like the foamies, which happens when something gets stuck in the stoma... which happens with strictures... sorry to hear he's having this problem.  :( Michele

I have trouble with meat -- even ground meat.  Is your husband on any anti-ulcer medications since surgery?  I'm taking ranitidine -- my surgeon recommends it for us for at least three months after surgery.  I do fine with fish, milk, yogurt, soup, but meat is likely to cause me pain.  Have him check with his doc.
