First Posting - New to this discussion board

Hi there! Reading all of your posts for both pre and post surgery people is so encouraging. My RNY surgery is scheduled for 1/24/07 in Eugene with Dr. Umbach and I am so excited and anxious. The only down side of this whole process for me is that my ins does not cover this surgery, but I am doing the self pay option and feel it is entirely worth it. I am hoping the next four weeks move fast because I am anxious to be on the "other side" of this whole process.

Hello there.... I had my surgery on 12/6 with Dr. Umbach! I think that everyone in that office is great to deal with! Let any of us know if you have any questions I have found everyone on here very friendly and helpful. we are having a breakfast on Jan 20 at 8am at Elmers on Gateway if you would like to join us. There should be about 10-15 of us there. You can find threads on here about it. Keep us posted and welcome! Tara

Hi there and welcome. I had my surgery on 11/22 with Dr. Gorrin. Best decision I ever made (or is it a toss up between the surgery and quitting smoking). LOL. Anyway, congratulations on your surgery date. As Tara said, we are having a breakfast monthly and we would love to have you join us. Take care and let us know if you need ANYTHING.

Jennifer, congratulations on your surgery date. I had my surgery in April of 06 in Klamath Falls. I see you are from Roseburg as am I. Several of us are going to meet at Elmers at the Gateway Mall area on January 20th at 8 a.m. for a get to know each other breakfast. That will be just before your surgery. Would love to have you come and meet you there. You must be getting excited. Julia

Hi Jennifer, I'm so happy for you. I'm in the local Eugene group as well and Dr. Umbach is my surgeon also. I have been denied by insurance but Dr. Umbach is going to bat for me in a telephone conference call with Aetna on 1/4/07. I am optomistic at this time and find Dr. Umbach to be very caring and helpful. When I met with him, one-on-one, he made me feel like he had all the time in the world to answer my questions. The entire group in there has been amazing and helpful. You have probably experienced them all by now and know what we are speaking to. I hope you will consider joining us at the breakfast on 1/20/07; we would love to meet you. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date and I wish you a wonderful 2007 ahead.
