TGIF everyone!
No big plans for my Friday. Work should be a pretty normal day and then I will head to the gym to do my thing which is 10 mins cycle, 45 mins weight training (4 sets of 12 reps per station), and 5-10 min treadmill cool down. Then I'll do a 20 minute Hydro Massage. I can't believe that it was only 6 months ago I joined the gym and barely made it through 10 minutes on the treadmill. My fitbit says I burn 700-1000 cal per workout but I just use it as a gauge,, to me that seems high. Ginny a.k.a. gymbeast? Any feedback on this?

I'm a bit late posting but figured I'd still make an effort. I think it's just a normal workday and then I have a session with the trainer tonight. Wish me luck because he likes to do supersets twice in a week so that is what I expect tonight.

D - probably just a soup of some sort
S - Neocitron (still trying to keep this cold from kicking in)
All vitamins and 2.5 - 3 L water
Good morning all,
Yesterday was nuts as I was training a new girl for our office then headed straight to the gym for a session with my trainer. I was feeling a cold coming on so had taken some Tylenol cold but figured a workout might be fine... well he had a superset session planned and man did I sweat! I had a soup once I got home and then sipped some Neocitron in hopes I can kick the cold before it latches on.
B - Kaizen protein shake
S - 1/2 apple with light PB
L - lentil/veggie soup with a couple crackers
S - turkey pepperettes
D - rotisserie chicken, salad
S - greek yogurt (if hungry) but likely just Neocitron
All vitamins and 2.5 L water

You need to see a family doc , walk in if they dont know you cant send you for surgery. I was asking my doc for 3 years she first send me for different diets There is a couple covered by ohip. After that I had a back problem and the diets always had a yo-yo effect. So finally she gave me a referral for bariatric network. It's not an easy referral either you can't just fax it, it's an online form doctor have to fill out. Then wait for few months. But let me tell you it's worth the wait and doing it through ohip saves you a lot of stress. Anything wrong, any questions, you got your team at family doc and bariatric clinic and you only have to show your health cart. When you do it private you will pay for every follow up and they will charge you if there are complications.
Through the network you could be a candidate for a surgery or medical diet. They will send you to see dieticians, social worker, maybe psychologist, maybe different specialist for sure internist for sleep study. Many appointments from the orientation session until you finally see a surgeon. It goes fast though. Good luck.
It's Monday so a good time to try to revive the menu thread.
C.C. and Meg were the main 2 when I was pre-op and it was so great to see activity daily so let's give this a whirl!
I went to the gym Thursday Friday and Saturday but ended up skipping out yesterday and doing a Costco run instead. I picked up 2 new shrimp variations to try plus grabbed my trusty Olymel sliced turkey. My mom and I had lunch out and we split an order of ribs and salad so that wasn't too bad for accountability plus it was a yummy treat!
B - Kaizen protein shake
S - SF low fat bran muffin
L - Olymel sliced turkey, tossed salad
S - turkey pepperettes
D - shrimp (lemon & garlic), brocolli
S - fresh pineapple, vanilla greek yogurt for dip
All vitamins, 2.5 - 3 litres water
Make sure you make a list of whatever diet plans you followed even if it wasn't an official one.
They will look at what attempts you have made even if not successful long term. They will want to see that you have been trying. Gastric bypass is just a tool which is why they want you to demonstrate that you having been trying even if not successful. It happened to all of us. YOYO dieting has been a problem for all of us.
Ask your GP for a referral to a Dietician to help you just eat healthier and attempt to break old eating habits. Anything you do know will make it easier to succeed after.
Try upping exercise even if it only walking to the house next door.
Keep track of everything. Start food logging. All this will help. Depending on which centre you get referred to you will have a wait.
Good luck in your journey
I feel like it is better to go through the clinic process because they support you and follow up with you. My aunt paid privately for lap band a while ago and I feel like it's been harder for her to get support, especially now so many years later. I've heard this about people who go to other countries as well. Also, the time in the process allows you to adjust and make changes that will help you be successful long term :)
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a reply. I really appreciated it . I haven't been seeing any type of professional. Guess I will just hope for the best. I wish I had 20 grand to do it private but that wont be happening
I feel like as I lost weight my panni shrunk in a bit proportionately. I don't feel it's any lower... I'm five years post-op and didn't plan to have it removed because we wanted to have kids. I've had two babies and I think it looks exactly the same as it always has, just less heavy. The way I'm shaped I don't think I would be happy with just the panni removal, but maybe some day I will get something done.
I've heard that in Ontario even though OHIP will cover the panniculectomy that none of the plastic surgeons will do just the panni -- you need to upgrade to a TT. Who knows though since things seem to change all the time :)
