Topic: RE: WAYE threads

Welcome back and Congrats!!

I had been posting the thread but no one seemed to be interested so I let it go. I'd be happy to respond and post my menu daily. Currently, I'm at a standstill on weight loss with the whole COVID deal. I was in a groove of hitting the gym several times a week and that came to an abrupt halt which is probably part of the problem. Daily walks, indoor cycling and weights are still part of my routine but I just don't seem to get the same results.

Count me as a big YES vote for the thread relaunch

Topic: Starting the Process!

Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been thinking of pursuing surgery for about a year now, I've done a lot of research and I'm confident this will be a great tool to help me succeed. I've done Weigh****chers, Noom, Keto, Atkins. If it's a diet, I've tried it. The one hurdle I've been running into is my family doctor. He's very resistant to surgery and I'm not quite sure why. I'm 165cm and 270lbs. I have diabetes and high blood pressure. I need this to help me on my journey. I know getting a new family doctor is impossible right now. Can anyone give me any suggestions or tips on how to find a doctor that will support me in this journey, or help my doctor see what I need? Thanks in advance!

Topic: WAYE threads

Hey everyone!!

So with someone posting my old post yesterday it got me thinking about the "what are you eating/doing" threads. I've been struggling with eating lately. I don't know if I shared this but we had a second little nugget at the end of January and I have put on quite a bit of weight between the two pregnancies.

Are people still interested in reading and replying to these if I start doing them again?

Topic: I Started my First Steps to Surgery

Hi all, I am in the Ottawa area and have struggled with weight my entire life. I was able to get quite thin for a while on my own and ended up gaining it all back over a 15 year period leading up to today, where I am now a few pounds heavier than I was 15 years ago...still, that's 15 years I wasn't this heavy ( 330lbs )

I am pretty fortunate and haven't had any health issues yet, I have a loving/supportive spouse and a good job where I can take time if needed. About a year ago I decided I needed to get help with this struggle. I was referred to BMI in Ottawa which was great. I learned some things and lost a little weight, but not much. After a lot of discussions, they put me on Saxenda which helped a little. I was told the next step was surgery. I finished with the program a couple months ago and have since run out of Saxenda, but not renewed my membership there given COVID. Since I stopped Saxenda, I shot back up to weigh a little more than I did when I started. Sitting at home all the time doesn't help here!

Anyways, I called my regular doctor and told him about me experience at BMI and such and he has referred me for Bariatric Surgery now. I feel excited, I feel scared and I feel a little sad...funny. He mentioned bloody work and a sleep study, but because Dr Freedhoff had assessed me and said he didn't think I had a problem there, I might not need it? I have no idea what to expect now. Wait times I imagine are unknown territory right now with everything closed for the last 2 months. I suppose my main question is what should I expect to happen in both the short and long term?

Thanks :)

This is great. But I'm shocked. I had no idea you could go from an RNY to a Sleeve! Is this even possible, given that you have a pouch?

oh no this is my fear!! My cat (trinity she is a ragdoll cat) EVERY NIGHT as soon as i crawl into bed, she climbs right on top of my stomach and lays there for about 30 minutes..that is our cuddle time..the other time she is usually with my fiance (who before we got trinity hated cats..she has definitely warmed him over). But Im afraid our nightly ritual will go away *pouts* On a good note...i absolutely LOVED this post LOL :)

Haha, same here. Though my cat isn't ragdoll, she's a tabby cat, she does the same almost every night, but mostly after midnight. Though lately, she had some health issues and, what a nuisance, she got fleas. After reading articles on Catademy I managed to deal with it, though I'm still afraid to allow my cat to sleep with me.

I have been on all of the prescriptions. GERD is miserable. I take one teaspoon of baking soda in 8 ounces of water and sip until it is gone. It is the old-fashioned way but works for me.

Baking soda is an alkaline and it neutralizes the acid.

Must cheaper and safer than the prescriptin medicines.
