Topic: RE: HI. Noone's posting here anymore

I haven't been here for a while and was surprised also that there has been no posting. Perhaps the crazy world of covid ha**** us all in many ways.

I had RNY 6 years ago. I struggle every day to make good choices. One day I'm good girl then I'm not. Such a bouncing routine. Over the past 3 years I've struggled with some very hard emotional upsets in my life, the loss of my hubby of 37 years, the loss of our doggy a year later, then the selling of our home we were in for 36 years. So much, too much.. and that is just some of the things. Like everyone, you put Covid on top of our other issues and our support of food, wrong choice food just seem to make things better :( But it doesn't and I start that awful circle of eating, binging, starving, guilt trips and just feeling awful about myself.

But I try to keep positive and hope to see better times in 2021 , with hopefully a covid free or controlled world.

Stay safe everyone, keep your family safe, your friends and loved ones safe so we can all be together next holiday season.

Topic: RE: Sleeve 5 yrs ago, gained ALL back

I understand it can be really tough to keep eating well during very challenging times. I'm sorry you're going through this. A lot of people here are suggesting revision and others are suggesting dieting.

I had my VSG 7 years ago. I've kept the 100lb off for 5.5 years, eating well and exercising. However, my restriction became almost non-existent with the years. And, I can eat almost anything in big portions. I battled with a 10 pound regain all of last year (1999), gaining and losing it. And now, this year (2020) I've gained another 20lb, so 30lb in total. I exercised every day and the pounds still piled on. Could be hormonal because I turned 50. Could be my eating habits because exercise made me so much hungrier. So I stopped exercising and started measuring food and calories -- so really, I just went back to the dieting I had done pre-op, for many years that made my life miserable. The restriction from the VSG is what helped me maintain. Without it, I'm just back to yo-yo dieting. I want that restriction back, so, I'm getting resleeved on the 10th. I think the VSG is a great tool that needs to be adjusted for it to work longer term. I've never read about any VSGer having kept off 100lb for more than 5 years. Everyone has gained back some weight at some point, and it makes sense because the restriction loosens. Some people are still happy with the 20lb or 30lb regain because it's still a 70lb loss. But, I'm not. I don't want to regain anymore weight, I want to regain control.

Good luck to you!

Topic: RE: Panniculectomy requirements

Good morning Paula, I've have had alot of things done.... he really changed my life. Extended TT, with mons lift, muscle repair, hernia repair, relocation of the belly button, breast reduction/lift & lipo ( that was all my first surgery 6 years ago, I paid a $3500 upgrade fee with the Ohip coverage) now he is charging $ 5500. I later went on to get a thigh lift, upper blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty. ( all these were self pay) He is very kind and willing to work with Ohip which is a big help to fund what is covered. He needs to apply to Ohip and the approvals usually come in 4-6 weeks after. He has a very high approval rating ....If you get a Family Dr. refferal then the $150 consult fee is waved, or if you pay, it would then be deducted from any proceders you do with him. So you really only have your time and gas to loose. Good Luck

Hi again

I am just curious about your experience with Dr Elahi. What did you have done and did you pay extra?

Thanks so much

Paula

There is a daily menu thread on the RNY board. We have RNY, VSG, and DS people who post there. Please join us on that board. It can help you to learn, stay accountable, see what others are eating, and keep in contact with other weight loss surgery people. With the pandemic, support is more important than ever.
