Yes, it sucks.

If you can get your GP to send you for an abdominal ultrasound, endoscopy and colonoscopy then you will have had almost all the "tests" done and you will move ahead even quicker. I know a few people who did that and it helped immensely.

I was like you. When I finally asked for the referral I was ready. I was more than ready and I knew what I was in for. I just wanted it to happen.

I was pretty lucky. I came through the Wharton Clinic. From referral to surgery was 7 months.

Tell me about it I was referred in Oct of last year (2017) to TWH. Finally got my surgeon's appointment last month and it isn't until March 22nd. So disappointing. I have been calling weekly to see for any cancellations but nobody calls me back it's been four weeks in a row now. I really thought I would have had the surgery already and I dont want to wait another 6 months. Feeling discouraged. I'm so tired of being fat.

Topic: What are you eating/doing today -- Monday?

Good morning :)

Slow start this morning. I seem to have a sinus headache that is slowing me down. My goal today is to use up some very ripe bananas and bake some oatmeal bites. Tonight I'm taking the little nugget to see my paternal grandmother. It's a very weird situation because I have only seen her twice in the past twenty years. I guess I'm trying to open that door a bit.

QOTD: my friend and I were talking on the weekend about how it is weird to lose touch with someone you were close to for a long time. Is there anyone you have lost touch with that you would like to reach out to? It seems easier these days with social media, but I feel like it can also create a barrier -- you can get updates on peoples' lives without having to talk to them. I have an aunt who I was really close with as a child but I only see her a couple times a year now. Mostly on holidays.

Post-op three years and nine months.

Breakfast 1 - protein bar

Breakfast 2 - melba toast and PB

Snack - Greek yogurt and blueberries

Lunch - leftover ribs and veg

Snack - pepperoni and pickles

Dinner - leftover chicken

Snack - pudding

All water and vits.

Definitely been there...seems like forever, but like liveyourlife says, once you start, it goes pretty fast.

Rest assure that everything happens at the right time and it's great that you are researching, the trio team will want to ensure that you know what you're getting into and that you are confident with your choice. For sure you're on the right path! Keep at it.

It does seem to take a long time to get things going but once it starts it actually moves quite quickly. The trio will love that you are doing a lot of research, put some of what you are learning into practice. Before you know it you will be on the losers bench!

I'm sure you've all been there. I've been referred early November and I'm waiting to hear about orientation at this point.

I called Humber River last week to make sure they had my file and they did confirm they have it but it will still be a few weeks to get my orientation information.

I feel like once you've decided this surgery is for you - it's so hard to wait for the next step. I've done a lot of research, I've read books and forums and the Humber River bariatric guide. I've talked to a lot of wls patients, I've talked to my GP, I've done my bloodwork and my sleep study already.

I want this badly! I'm just complaining because I'm impatient. Oh well, hopefully by this time next year i will be close to a surgery date and I can finally say this is happening!!!

So my appointment was under 2 hours:

  • I met the clerk who confirmed my info, emergency contact, asked if I had supplementary insurance, and asked if I wanted to upgrade to a private or semi-private room
  • Met the pharmacist *****viewed my meds and advised which meds to stop prior to surgery
  • Met with the nurse *****viewed medical history, took pulse, height (I grew), weight (down 16 pounds from my meet the surgeon appointment in Oct), and tested for MRSA (negative)
  • Then I with a lab tech who performed a ECG and book vials of blood
  • Then I met the anesthesiologist *****viewed what will happened and the risks

I booked a whole day off work for appointment that was over by 9am!
