One Year Surgiversary!
hello!
one Year and 96 pounds gone. I had hoped it would be at least 100 but I know that will come in the next few weeks. I have learned that it is best not to compare myself with others as we are all different ages, shapes and sizes. I am so happy. I feel fantastic. I am grateful for all the support here and those who have been on the journey before me and with me, you all inspire and guide me. To those of you starting the journey, don't despair, your surgery will be here before you know it. Come here often, the support is worth it.
Referred January 7/17, Orientation Humber May 28/17, Meet Dr. August 4/17, TRIO November 3/17, Internist November 21/17, Surgeon again December 21/17, Pre-op assessment January 4/18 and Surgery January 12/18.
Congrats Leslie! You have done so well! Felling fantastic and happy is the most important part of all this! I agree, comparing to others is not what one should focus on - its great we can share our experiences and then find a middle ground that works for us. Personally I think if it goes a little slower, then the body has that little extra time to adjust. Some days, I lose nothing - which has stretched to almost a week. I just remind myself to keep following the plan and it will move down again (and it does motivate me to up my walking!)\
Again, well done!!!
Sunny
Congratulations!
I didn't realize that you and I had our surgeries so close together. My surgiversay is the 16th. I have my one year check up tomorrow. I was probably so preoccupied with myself that I wasn't paying attention. My bad....
I agree Leslie, comparing yourself to others is just not a good way to go. We all lose differently and our bodies are our own. It's almost a recipe for disaster to start doing that kind of stuff. The other thing is that everybody has different challenges in their lives that can cause weight loss to either slow down or speed up. Own your own journey. :)
The support here has been very good and that's why I'm still checking in. I keep learning about this journey and now that I'm at a different stage in my life I come here to learn the next steps and hear what the veterans have to say.
Keep at it and Good Luck!

Thank you Sweetride, the support is amazing. You started at the same weight as me too. I think my age might be a factor as I'm almost 62 but my body has always been a tough nut to crack!

I'm 58 in April so we aren't that far apart. I lost weight before surgery. I actually dropped 40 lbs just by cutting out pop and eating protein first and everything else after. I also cut my sugar intake down considerably before surgery so I did have a head start.
You're doing great!

Congrats! One year seems to have flown by. You are right...the whole thing around comparison being the thief of joy...you can't compare yourself or it takes away from your amazing accomplishments! Everybody loses at different paces and different places - look at how far you've come, that's the best comparison! Enjoy the rest of your journey :)

Wow Quite the milestone and well done gurl! I am just over a year behind you as I had my surgery the end of November so I'm very excited to see what things will look like a year out.
Keep up the great work and the newbies like me will be watching for advice from "veteran's" like you
A BIG congrats on the progress a year out!
Way to go! You are so right that everyone's body loses at their own pace. 100 pounds in a year is amazing. We all go into this wanting to feel so much better and if you feel fantastic then you have accomplished one of your goals. You had surgery about 2 months before me and I have enjoyed following your progress. Enjoy the new 'you'!
