Starting to feel a little more controlled
Hi all,
I hope everyone is doing well! I've been having a rough time for the past few months. My health has been off. I've been actively trying to get to the source of it. With the doctors at TWH, we have tried a few different things, and finally in a couple of weeks, my gallbladder is coming out. I am really hoping this will solve the nausea and pain I feel regularly.
As a result of feeling terrible, I have fallen into some bad habits. Sadly, carbs are way easier to digest than protein for me lately. And they are a slippery slope. I was down to 121 lbs lost a couple of months ago, then slowly started creeping weight back on. I regained 6.5 lbs. UGH!!!!
This past week and a half, I am down most of that - I have 1.5 lbs to go to get back to 121 lbs lost - my lowest adult weight. And then hopefully I can keep going!
I've been really trying to focus on why I did this, what my goals are. I am thinking of putting some before and after pictures around my kitchen to inspire me when I am in a moment of weakness. I am not close to losing all the weight I would like to. At minimum, I would like to lose another 45 lbs. Then - who knows.
But I feel good for the first time in a long time. I feel like I have a renewed sense of control and choice.
Thanks for being here, even when I'm absent. I've been lurking a bit lately, but been doing too much avoiding. Time to get back to basics!
I hope you are all doing amazing on your journeys! It's not over til you give up :)

So the good news is that you see what's happening and you are taking responsibility and doing something about it. That's fabulous.
We are all human and when we don't feel good the slippery slope is not far away. This is a great reminder of how diligent we must be.
Ahhh avoidance. It's an interesting thing. I find that when I avoid I'm more stressed than if I just tackle an issue head on and usually the outcome is better than I thought it was going to be. Avoiding creates its own set of problems and then it escalates and becomes bigger than the original problem we try to avoid. Yup, been there done that!
You have done fantastic so far. The issues you have faced in the last several month are not easy to deal with. Hopefully with the gallbladder being removed you will get back to feeling like your old self and continue on your journey.
We're always here and we do understand. You don't need to avoid us. We're the ones who get it. LOL

Thanks girl. Yes, everything you said is true. And I haven't intentionally avoided - but it's my pattern. And let's face it, time flies. A week turns into a month and turns into two, etc. I'm glad that I'm feeling more controlled now before 2 months turns into a year, and 6 lbs turns into 60.
The struggle is real!!! :)

Hi oneatatime,
So sorry to hear of your complications. Stick with it girl... You have come so far I just know you won't return to the size you were before. I am just posting to say...It's ok that you slipped. This tool we have actually responds (at least for me) very well once I get back on track. Holidays = Slips in most of our worlds anyway.
You will get back on track, That I have no doubt. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. A healthy Mind as a result of a healthy and Non hurting Body does wonders for our psyche and desire to maintain our new life styles. It's disappointing when we can't...I think we all feel that threat when something introduces a Speed Bump in our path. :-)
Thanks Wayne. Yes, my mind is so much clearer from the lack of body pain. I'm hoping it will be better soon when the sickness is gone. It's been wreaking havoc on my psyche. /(

Pain and feeling nauseous nonstop sap your energy and can break your spirit and wreak havoc with your brain. You've done so well and always have insightful thoughts and advice. It won't be long now until you get that damn gallbladder out and are on the road to feeling like yourself again.
Hang in there, feeling good is just around the corner. :)
