5 Months Post-op Update

Hey Everyone,

I like doing little updates as seeing everyone elses helped me when I was still at the beginning stages.

I hit one-derland a few weeks ago! Although super exciting to see, I actually found myself not reacting as much as I thought I would. I think its because although it was a goal, I've found myself becoming less focused on the numbers.

Had to get rid of all my clothes. Which made me emotional lol I've bought some staples, (Including size 12 jeans!!!!) but am holding off on going wild for now.

I went on a week long staycation at my friends house. And would ya know? Planes are not the most uncomfortable thing in the world. I was sitting cross legged (what?) with the tray down watching movies. Before the tray couldn't even come down.

My friends live a very much eat out every day life. So I bought my protein shakes for breakfast and did my best to make the healthy decisions. Although I felt I had some splurges, I still lost 3lbs that week. So it felt like a great test.

Working out is not only something I enjoy, but something I now crave when I can't do it. I've become one of those people lol. Since I couldn't keep up with my usual workout routine while at my friends, I found myself doing laps at malls/parks and up and down movie theater aisles before movies started. They all found it hilarious the total 180 in my life (in a good supportive way)

At home I have an indoor bike that I usually do 10miles+ while doing strength exercises. I'm also taking advantage of whats left of the summer and doing 5k walks/jogs. I can almost feel myself looking into running.

This is all something I could have NEVER imagined for myself pre-surgery.

Thank you for your update!! I saw you had your surgery at Humber, may I ask who your surgeon was? I am still going through all the appointments (I just have one with Dr. Glazier for my Internist appointment, but it sounds like that won't be until January 2019....), but I am also at Humber.

Dr. Klein was my surgeon. I really liked him. I also saw Dr Glazier as well. Keep trying for cancellations, they do come up!

You are doing so great Jenkh! Good for you - keep it up. It is inspiring to read these stories for the pendingsurgery patients - very encouraging. You are on track and doing so wonderful.. Look at all you have accomplished in such a short amount of time!!

When I would see people exercising (running, biking etc) I was always envious. Now like you I am one of those people and it is the greatest NSV I could ask for. Feeling stronger, having more stamina, walking with a bounce in my step is wonderful. I also crave workouts (and coffee).

You are doing fabulously. Many more great NSV's to come.

Congratulations! I have to agree as well that one of the biggest changes in my life post op is that I am working out on a steady schedule which I rarely miss. I really really love to be active and am so happy to be moving my body again. It is fantastic and I feel great. Keep up the great work. The rewards are awesome!
