Feelings ....

So, I'm SURE that everyone has the same feelings but I want to do a poll. Even though I'm doing very well according to my surgeon, in the back of my head I don't feel it's real. I keep thinking it's going to stop and then I'll gain it all back with everything I've gone through (complications). I am going to do my darnedest to make sure that never happens!!! I never want to be unhealthy again. There are several things that have already fixed myself even though I still have at lest 25lbs more to go although I've already changed that goal as I feel that I could actually go lower. When they asked me what I wanted to weigh I was just happy if I got into the upper 180's. Just want to see how many people have felt this way....

The fear of regain is real and it's always looming. I believe that the losing is the easiest part of all of this. It's the next stage that concerns me as my pattern has always been to lose weight and gain it back. I'm looking to break the cycle.

I've done a lot of introspective work on myself and will continue on this path as I move along. I'm doing Craving Change in September and I spend a lot of time being mindful. I'm mindful about a lot of things.

I question, am I hungry, why do you want to eat this, why are you eating this at all? It's constant.

My head is wide open ALL THE TIME.

I keep busy. I know that boredom is my worst enemy so I make sure I'm not bored. I keep doing.

The struggle is real. The fear is real. It's all real.

Thanks for your response! I totally forgot about the course Craving Change. I took a picture of it and was going to investigate. I'm going to look into it today. How you are feeling is exactly like me!!!

Hi Kim,

I get it! I am 11 months out today and have lost 118 lbs. It still feels surreal!! I was so worried pre-op thatbit wouldn't work for me. It did!! I am not close to goal yet. I'm still categorically obese. But I'm so much better off health wise already. I am still losing, just slowly now. Sometimes i think if this is all I lose, I'm still super happy with that. I do want more though... but the fear of "can I" can loom strong.

You're doing super well! Keep it up. This is definitely a life change, body mind and soul.

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Choose happy.

Hi Kim,

Originally I just wanted to get down to the weight I was before I got "obsese" which was 150 (I'm 5'4"). I was never "thin" but I figured with my age and that fact that I have had two kids, that this weight (or even a bit more) would be totally acceptable for me. But, I did set my goal at 125 just because I've always wanted to be that weight and I figured this could be my only chance. I realize now that that might be a bit unrealistic.... lol. But you never know, I may not be done yet. I have gotten down to 141 without a struggle and feel pretty good at this weight. I went to see the nutritionist the other day and he seems to think that I am probably in "maintenance". We will see...I am basically adding a few carbs and some treats, but it's still mostly protein, veggies and fruit for me. If this is maintenance for me, then I can easily live like this for the rest of my life. I am happy. Yes, I have had some worry about weight gain, but I am more focused on enjoying the tiny amount that I can eat and being physically active every day. I thank God every day for having had the opportunity to change my life through this surgery...
