4 month update

I just passed my 4 month mark and am thrilled with how I feel. I've lost 82 pounds and only have about 25 to go. I no longer have aches in my back, I sleep without tossing and turning and I can walk pretty much anywhere without issue. I was especially thrilled when I flew to Jamaica last week and felt comfortable in an airplane seat!

I also wanted to post for all those who are waiting for surgery and wondering how it will be. Everyone has different experiences so I can only speak to mine. I have not had any problems tolerating food which is a good and bad thing in a way. Although your new stomach does a lot of the work for you at first, you still have to work on your head. If you think that you won't eat because you can't thats only partly true. I made the mistake on my trip to not bring along a protein bar on an excursion because it was only supposed to be a couple of hours. It ended up being a lot longer and I was starving. I ended up having what they served for lunch which was Patties- not on my approved list! I could only eat a few bites but to my surprise my stomach wasn't upset. This is good right? Well at the time it was but it caused me some fear. Am I going to fall into my old ways and start eating crap?I had to tell myself ( a bit of a pep talk) that I was on a good path and remind myself that I was changing for the better - I was not going to slide down that slippery slope. So, I'm hopeful that I can do this but please don't think that you can avoid having to make difficult choices and not have to use some will power- eventually it could come back to bite you.

Wishing everyone success!

Amanda

You're doing very well. I'm 9 months out and haven't lost a single pound this past month because of m6 food choices. I too am worried about that slippery slope! Time to smarten up for me.
