1 Day Out, So Far So Good
Hi everyone, had my surgery yesterday as planned...got sleeved instead of bypassed but everything went well!
Everyone at St Mike's has been wonderful- the surgeons, the nurses, the anesthesiologists, the gentleman who brings the meals, there's even a fellow from the hospital library who brings you newspaper and will bring you a book if you ask...I've gotten excellent care and feel so greatful. For anyone having their surgery at St Mike's, you will be in good hands.
I'm having lots of pain in my rib area, especially the left side, which I've been told is normal. Morphine helps. Other than I'm feeling pretty good, no trouble getting my liquids down. I feel totally bloated and can feel the gas rumbling around, but no toots as of yet! Lots of walking around the ward, still a bit decrepit when I walk but getting better.
Thanks for all your well wishes, good luck to everyone having surgery, and hope everyone has a great day!

Surgery Jun.2/17 at TWH ----- HW 215 - SW 197.2 - GW 125 CW 124.6
Pre-Op=8.8lbs --- Optifast= 8.4 (was on it for 9 days due to cancellation)
M1 - 20.6... M2 -10.2... M3 -8.0... M4 -5.8... M5 -9.0... M6 -5.2... M7 -7.0... M8 -2.2... M9 -0.9... M10 -2.6... M11-0.6... M12-2.0
No, it was scheduled as RNY with possibly of sleeve, the usual. But my BMI is high 50s, and I carry a lot of weight in my middle....I was told at my surgeon's appointment those things can increase chance of getting sleeved.

Congratulations! Take it one day at a time. Every day gets a little better than the day before. Be prepared for loss energy in the early going but rest assured when your energy comes back you will feel terrific.
I've moved over. Lots of room here on the bench for you.
