I had Dr. Nandagopal do all my procedures at USculpt. He specialises in WLS patients. Fewer surgeons are doing OHIP panni only. Panni just removes the skin below bellybutton. Depending on where your excess skin is a panni most likely won't give you the results you want. Best advice is to see a surgeon that specialises in wls as our skin is very different and we don't heal the same.
Feel free to PM me if you want.
This is from Ohip... you must have these conditions to qualify.
16. Excision of excess fatty tissue and/or skin a. Panniculectomy is only insured in the following cir****tances and when prior authorization of payment is obtained from the MOHLTC : i. where there is significant associated symptomatology related to the pannus; ii. where the pannus extends to a level below the pubis symphysis; and iii. where the patient's weight has been stable for a minimum of 6 month s when panniculectomy is requested in relation to weight loss. b. Excision of excess fatty tissue and/or skin other t han for panniculectomy is not an insured service. [Commentary: Examples of significant clinical symptomatology include signif icant pain, chronic skin breakdown, and recurrent cellulitis and/ or ulcersHi,
I do meet all the criteria. The plastic surgeon I saw wrote so on the application. I was still denied.
I haven't had cellulitis (which is a bacterial infection), but I have chronic candidiasis. I use clotrimaderm with steroid cream twice daily and have for the last 10 years. It can get painful, and it does ulcerate at times.
I don't know what else OHIP needs to hear.

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to update to let you know that I have finally been approved for the panniculectomy, and upgraded to an abdominoplasty.
My surgeon will be Dr. Michael Kriedstein in Toronto, and I can't say enough about him, and his office. They were positive and supportive and advocated for me until OHIP approved.
I'd also like to say thank you to everyone here that offered advice and words of wisdom. I appreciate every bit of it.
Maggie
