3 Month Update
3 months out from surgery and I feel fantastic! I cannot believe how much better my body feels getting the extra weight off. I have so much more energy and am generally loving life more each day. Getting dressed in the morning is something not to be dreaded and clothes shopping is fun again! RNY is an amazing tool, I know it will get harder as time moves on but for now I will enjoy. My BMI is currently still in the overweight category but only 20 more lbs to get to normal.
To those who are just starting the journey or have just had surgery here are a few observations:
The first few days after surgery are rough but things get better everyday.
Food didn't taste right for the first month or so but but everything tastes normal now.
It is hard to get in food, vitamins & drinks at the proper time but stick with it, it does get easier and becomes second nature.
I struggled to drink water post surgery (and I loved it before) but now I drink 8 cups a day no problem at all.
I don't really feel hungry anymore and I don't ever feel full, I just feel satisfied. I listen to my body and just know that I've had enough.
The best thing I noticed? I feel like I found myself again.
Good luck everyone!

Hi Amanda, it's an awesome feeling isn't it?! Too bad the money supply isn't unlimited for all the clothes shopping we Want to do now. I wish you continued success as well.

Congratulation on your success.
I feel like you.
I love clothes shopping. I have to stop! It's almost overwhelming when I realize I can shop in any store and have tons of options. I stopped at the Columbia outlet store in Kingston a few weeks ago and I had to be dragged out of the store kicking and screaming. There was so much I wanted to buy. I felt like a kid in a candy store. LOL
My energy level is off the charts. I played hopscotch the other day with my neighbour's little girl. What a hoot. I go to the gym 4 x per week. I am strong now and can run and jump and lift weights. It's amazing how my body feels after a workout.
When you think it can't get any better it does. :)

That is fantastic, I hadn't thought of making a trip to any of the outlet stores but that may be a good idea for this summer. I think you are a few months ahead of me so nice to know the feeling continues!

Glad to hear you're doing well, I'm down into the Overweight category now too, but am trying to make do with buying as few clothes as possible, have some from "before" that are now the smallest clothes I have, am going to have to break down and buy more when the scale starts moving a bit more.
I find I can eat anything in small quantities which perhaps isn't good, but I'm managing. Still struggling to find time to exercise and not yet off any of my meds. I sometimes have trouble making sure I get enough protein, so track all food daily to know where I'm at.
Going for my "3 Month" blood work tomorrow, will be interesting to see where everything is, I sometimes forget some of the extra calcium but I take the full amount as supplements not including the amount in my vitamins/food. A little concerned about all that Iron as I'm post menopausal. Will be interesting to start tracking.

Hi Michelle, I think we are very similar. I too can eat just about everything and don't seem to have any issues either. I think it is probably a good and bad thing, portion control is going to be key. I track everthing on my fitness pal and have found that my weight started moving down again once I increased my calories to about 750 a day. I have been doing a lot of heavy yard work lately and my body seemed to need a bit more substanance. I too struggle getting enough protein in so I still have one protein shake each morning on my commute to work. I was at my 3 month check up and they didn't seem to have an issue with it.
