One year today

can't believe it's been a year already, and at the same time my surgery feels like a lifetime ago.

it truly was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have a new lease on life. I am so happy with the person looking back at me in the mirror now. I used to look in the mirror and think "that doesn't look like who I feel like inside" now I think "wow! I'm so happy!"

Everything is easier now. Only 'downfall' is that shopping is WAY too much fun ?

At my highest I was a size 18/1X and now I wear small tops, and pants/shorts/dresses size 4 (and even 2 sometimes). My BMI was 42 and now it's a 'normal' 24.

i would love to get plastics, but it's not financially feasible right now. Hopefully one day though.

I hope that everyone at the beginning stages has as great an experience as I have. It is truly life changing if you use this tool to the fullest.

Happy surgiversary!!

The part that really resonated with me was looking in the mirror and having the person looking back at you not matching how you feel inside. I know most people have some degree of body dysmorphia, but I have often been surprised by my reflection as I did not "feel" obese (unless I am walking up a flight of stairs, then I feel every extra pound).

I am always most inspired by the veterans who post their experiences and talk about how using the tool to the fullest has resulted in a new lease on life. It reminds me of what is possible when you work the program and take advantage of this opportunity we have been given.

Congratulations on all you have accomplished over the past year. You are truly an inspiration!

Happy surgiversary!!!

What a great, inspirational post. I agree with you and the previous poster about the reflection prior to WLS not resembling me. I am still often surprised when I look in the mirror, but I feel so much more like myself already. I'm so glad to learn you do too!!

Maybe plastics one day! Who knows. They are expensive. Ugh.

Congratulations again!!

Fantastic post, we were probably close to the same size post surgery and I just bought my first clothing in size medium shirts and size 10 shorts, absolutely amazing but your right, shopping really is way too much fun! I can't even phantom getting to my goal weight of 140 since I haven't been there since I got married 28 years ago. Thanks for the inspiration.
