Nausea - a constant companion

I had RnY Feb 27th so I'm 3m out. I feel nauseous and have every day since surgery. They thought I might have a stricture or an ulcer so an endoscopy was completed last week. I don't have either. Dr Sullivan did say several of my staples are still clearly visible inside and they should have healed over long ago and that my pouch is really irritated. I've been prescribed meds that they use for ulcers to help coat my stomach to ease the irritation and aid healing.

The nausea has not improved. I can't take gravol as it totally knocks me out (much much stronger since surgery). The ginger/non-drowsy ones don't work either. My family Dr won't prescribe anti-nausea meds as he feels it's masking a symptom.

I'm getting around 70-80oz of fluids in each day and approx 80-100g protein (mostly in the way of shakes as most foods make the nausea worse or feel like they are stuck - this is why they suspected a stricture).

I really do feel miserable and wondered if anyone had similar and it got better

Ugh. I'm so sorry to hear you're so sick since surgery. Hopefully the meds will help you soon.

I'm sure what I have is different. At about 3 or 4 months out, I started getting quite nauseous from food. I had a gastroscopy a few weeks ago, and I do have a small ulcer. I'm in two meds several times a day. I don't feel well yet. I sometimes eat a meal and don't feel nauseous now... but they're few and far between. I'm hoping I'll be well soon!!

I hope you feel better soon too, and if you don't, keep exploring. It was my Centre, not my family doctor, who figured it out for me. We're still doing some tests in case there's more there. Don't give up. ((Hugs))

It was the surgeon that did my surgery that I went to for the endoscopy/gastroscopy (had to travel down to TO as well!). I will give the meds a chance to work before I start hounding them again. :)

How are you feeling overall?

Overall, I feel a million times better than I did!! I am down 115 lbs. I have so much more energy and mobility. I breathe and move better. I sleep better. It's just food related... but I had gerd pre-surgery and that's gone.

While "this" isn't ideal, what I was living with pre-surgery was terrible; so I really have no complaints. I am truly blessed!!! :)

In all honesty, even with the nausea I would do this again. I'm 73lb down and the lightest I've been in 17yrs. I'm feeling really well (overall). I just wish the nausea would do one and let me live my best life now that I have more energy and ability to do so!
