Hi all, I was suppose to have my surgery on Feb 28th...I went in to have it done in Guelph, however the DR that was assigned to do my surgery was unable to because of adhesions. He was not comfortable so I was closed up and sent home. Later I March I was given the opportunity to meet with a different surgery, who was confident that he could help me, so on May 10th I had my procedure done in Guelph by Dr. Jules. He was able to get around the adhesions and do the RNY! Today was my first day of full fluids and I am doing well. I find that I am extremely tired still....and not able to do very much. (high hopes of getting things done!) But my entire day is sipping, planning meals/snacks....and getting the dogs out for short walks. I still need afternoon naps. I lost 10lbs during my 2weeks opti and 9.6lbs the first week. I was shocked when I got on the scale! I love reading the what are you eating/doing posts. It gives me an idea of foods eaten by those further out.

5 yrs of research Starting for the second time...Referral Sept 28/17. Orientation Guelph Sept 28/17. Nurse Oct 10/17. Dietician & Social worker Nov. 21/17

So glad they were able to do your surgery. I have met Dr. Jules and he seems very nice. My surgeon was Dr. Reed.

Come and join us on the What are you eating/doing thread. It's a way to be accountable to yourself, have great support, and plus they are a fun group.

Taking naps right now is fine. Your body needs to rest and heal from major surgery. Keeping hydrated is key. All fluids count, so even a protein drink works. You've got this.

Congrats on your surgery . You will definitely find a wealth of information on here from some great vets who have learned from experience which I have found more helpful than a lot of what I've learned through my hospital. Good luck!

Congrats on your surgery and not giving up on your journey after setbacks, you'll find yourself less tired every day, just work on getting enough protein and everything else will come.

Welcome to the loser's bench.
