Scared....Nervous....Can't Sleep...VSG Surgery on May 22nd
Yup so the subject says it all. VSG surgery coming up on Tuesday May 22nd and I'm a bundle of nerves! I know I'm doing the right thing for my health but man almighty my nerves are starting to get out of control. 2 more days to work then I'm off. Any last minute advice??? Any regrets? Anything you wished you did differently?
Thanks...Kim

The only advise I have is to relax and as soon as you are able after surgery, walk, drink as much water as you can, and try to obtain your protein goals every day. Your life is about to change in pretty exciting ways!
I have absolutely no regrets. I would do this all over again. It is worth the wait. I have my life back.
All the best. You will do great!

THANK YOU Barb!!! I will try to do all those things. I'm pretty much got them all down except I need to increase my protein even more. I guess I'm just really nervous also that I will fail considering I've failed all along. I'm trying to keep on the positive side and really think and feel with all my heart that this will change things for me.

I believe it will change for you. I've always failed at weight loss as well...but not this time

Good luck! I have no regrets and am thrilled with everything so far . I'm only 8 weeks out (almost) and already feel like a new person. Just remember that any pain or discomfort is only temporary ( and not too bad) and it's all worth it.

No regrets here. It's the best thing I ever did for myself. I only wish I'd done it sooner.
Your life will change for the better.
Good Luck!

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone for replying!!! I'm trying not let this get the better of me. I just wish my brain would calm down. No matter what I'm going to do this. I just HOPE there aren't any major complications. I think that's what freaking me out. I've got the worst of luck with my health and something always seems to go wrong. I woke up 2nd night in a row with a panic attack. Getting some more panic meds for Friday, Saturday and Sunday if needed. They always help me sleep. Lack of sleep...always the big problem of little issues. Anyway thank you all again! I LOVE this group and the support of the wonderful members!!!

Ditto on the no regrets. Better health for what? a couple days of discomfort and some gas. Maybe even losing some cholesterol and high blood pressure medications. How about that sleep apnea? Or the aches and pains in the joints. I can actually take my dogs out for an extended walk. Everyone benefits! I would absolutely do it again no questions asked.
p.s take a pillow with you to the hospital. The ones they supply are small and thin.
I look forward to your follow up after surgery. Good luck

THANKS Dear! YUP got my pillow(s) on my list. Someone also said something about a heating pad for the gas pain so I'll take that as well. I'm not actually too worried about the after surgery pain or the gas pain. Just worried that something major will go wrong. I know it's just my brain working in overdrive for NO REASON at all...

Sounds like you've got it all well in hand, try not to worry too much, soon you'll be on the other side, thinking wow I'm doing so great what was I thinking. I'm 2-1/2 months out and realized I'm now with in 50 pounds of my goal (normal BMI) could never have done this on my own.
