Moving and walking
on 5/14/18 5:36 pm
I am 110 pounds down from the start of OptiFast.
I quit the gym because it was to far away. On the trade off I have be come obsessed with walking. I walk everyday average 16k steps, 6 milesish. I love it. I feel like I can walk forever. I am taking in every flower and ant on the way. Watching birds build nests. I don't want to stop when I reach my house so I go for another loop. Rainy days I have a few mails I walk around and window shop. I feel unstoppable.
I remember 6 month ago having to go home after food shopping because my back and hips would hurt. I would be sweating horribly all times of years. I had a pinched nerve that if I stood to long it would go painfully numb in my upper thigh area. My knees would be swollen at night. I used to ask my husband and daughter to slow down when we were walking. I would leave them in long check out lines because I needed to go to the car to sit.
All of that is gone. All of it! I never want to stop walking. I love it. I get knee pain at night but the Dr says that is because my body now rests differently and my knees lay at a different angle then it had for so many years.
For those who dream of being more mobile... it will come. Get a step counter. Start with small goals after you start to lose the weight post op. Then bump up those steps over time.. soon you will be walking to the food store instead of driving. How every it works for you.. it will come.
One step at a time.
It's great isn't it? So liberating!
I've never felt so fit in my life. I never imagined that I would feel this good.
No regrets...it's all good!

Your post made me so happy! Happy for you, and also for me, as I have all of those same benefits but sometimes forget what it was like before and take things for granted now. Thank you for the reminder.
My knees hurt sometimes too; I thought it was from bike riding and never considered it could be because they are positioned differently now. Makes sense though.

Very inspirational, I can't wait to feel that. I already notice a big difference myself but I still have pain and I can't do what I want yet. On the positive side I can go grocery shopping now, my husband did it for years on his own. Now we have debates about the grocery bill lol. I can take my granddaughter to the park and not have to sit the whole time. Just got a fitbit and plan on getting more and more steps. Things to be thankful for that don't involve a scale :)
