Overwhelmed!
One thing you could do is give yourself luxury coffee as a treat and a trade off.once you do, you'll think Timmy's is swill. Get a really good coffea like Kicking Horse. Get real beans and buy a grinder and a French press. You can get either half decaf or decaf beans. The ritual of making yourself real fresh coffee becomes part of the joy of drinking it. Three tablespoons of grounds per cup. Add your boiling water, let it sit while you start your wonderful lo-cal breakfast, then press your grounds. You'll get a flavour you couldn't imagine at Timmy's . Add 5% cream and stevia, and you'll never turn back. Stay away from Keurig as those pods don't give you truly fresh coffee and the pollute the planet big time. You'll also save $ and not give it to to Timmy's owners who exploit their workers terribly.
My favourite coffee since surgery is a tall flat white at starbucks - 100 calories, 10 grams of protein. I love it!

You'll do great. I switched to decaf before surgery and never went back. I may have 6 regular coffees in a year when decaf isn't available. You don't have to give up coffee. I drink more now than I did pre WLS.

Ah, I feel your pain! I am not a coffee drinker, but I had to give up my "1 diet coke a day" habit, and it sucked for a bit :)
My first attempt, I was all ****y, and quick cold turkey. Then got headaches and was a mess.
So I started over and used my brain :) hahah.
I went from 1 750ml bottle a day... down to 1 can... down to a can of diet Dr. Pepper (less caffeine), then to rootbeer (no caffeine).. then to fizzy water. And now I am happily just drinking plain or flavored water only.
Baby steps! You don't have to be perfect.. just progressing :)
I was similar to the others with coffee. I started to mix it 3/4 regular and 1/4 decaf and did this until I couldn't notice the change and then moved the ratio. The good thing with this process is you have a lot of time to make slow gradual changes. Good luck.

Hey Tammy I drink the Typhoo decaf tea. I buy it at Loblaws. It is a bit pricey but I found the other orange pekoe's to be a bit bland and weak. Caffeine was not as difficult as I thought it would be but I did get a bit headachey at first. I had to quit diet pepsi and coffee my true loves but am still standing!

current BMI 24.7 that, my friends, is NORMAL!!! Strong is the new pretty!
I loved and still love McDonald's decaf coffee. Give it a try.
