Next Steps & Freaking Out
So I have been progressing through all the steps of the process here in Ottawa. I now have my 2nd pre-op class and meet the surgeon all by the end of me. I have a huge vacation planned for August that i have been planning for over a year and then as soon as I get back it comes into busy season at my work. Kind of freaking out! I'm likely going to have to put myself on hold because of work but am still so nervous/excited/ anxious. Has anyone ever gone on hold in the process- how did you do/ handle it?

Being put on hold does not necessarily mean you will be first in line when you feel the time is right. You may have to repeat your sleep study, tests, and some of the appointments. You may be put at the end of the que. All of that may delay you to this time next year or even later, which would have you facing the same problem.
If your surgery is this June or early July, you should still be able to go on vacation in August. It may mean that you rest more on vacation.

Congrats on moving along in the process! It can get really daunting, especially when life happens, as it does. :)
Talk to your centre about it. No doubt they'll work with you to create a plan that will work well for your schedule. They've seen it all.
Have faith this will work out amazing!!!

Century Club and Onederland in month 7!!
I was approved for surgery in Dec and offered a date in Jan. As that was my busy time at work I asked if it could put it off till March. They had no problem doing that at all and booked me in for surgery March 2nd that same day. All went according to plan but it was hard putting myself on hold. By March 2nd I was so ready to get it done. Good luck!

Thanks Everyone, I spoke with some of the nurses- i still have a few things to do- like a second sleep study- boo- which happens to be 2 days after my surgeon appointment. They weren't concerned which is nice. Now to figure out the whole work thing- aka telling my boss her most senior manager needs 4 weeks off after a 2.5 week vacation.

Hey TBeat, if you are with the Weight Management Clinic at the Civic they will be able to work with you for your dates. I had surgery at the end of last November and went on a trip to Ireland with my son and grandson in March(four months post) and averaged 18 to 20 thousand steps a day and was able to eat healthily! Maybe you can get the surgery done sooner rather than later.

I know the newbies check the trackers and the signatures so although I kind of lost track of how the rest of the weight came off, you should know that it was not fast and furious but it was slow and steady!
