What to take to the hospital
Now that surgery is 3 days away I thought it would be good to get suggestions on what to take to the hospital with me. I know we're told not to over pack but I'm one of those people that would rather have something and not use it then need it and not have it lol. Anyways, what did you guys actually end up using during your hospital stay? Was there anything you felt was a necessity to have? One more question is did the hospital provide you with socks? (weird question I know). i'm trying to find non slip slippers but I'm having a hard time finding ones that fit my big feet (size 11). All answers are appreciated.

I brought my own non slip socks, basic toiletries, my phone and a change of clothes( comfy stuff). That's all I needed as I was there for 1 night. I slept for a good part of it and watched tv for a good amount of time. Good luck!

I brought my slippers which have hard bottoms for when I was walking the floor, otherwise my legs were in the squeezy hugging things and socks were not comfortable anyway. Biotene was the biggest help for me for super dry mouth, couldn't take enough in to relieve it and for the first 24 hours I could only have ice chips. It was the most uncomfortable feeling. I didn't end up changing in to the comfy clothes I brought until I left, otherwise the gown was just easiest. I brought a book but was too tired to read. My phone was the only entertainment I used. Good luck!

I wore light comfy clothes to the hospital and wore the same ones home, after all I had only worn them a couple of hours. This cut down on packing. Extra undies, slippers, biotene. Phone charger. I ended up staying in the hospital gown just because of the IV but I put on pj bottoms and pulled on a sweater for walking the floor.
Good luck!
Earplugs in case your roommate snores. Sleep mask to block out light when they come to check on you or your roommate. Pillow for the ride home to hold against your stomach.
You've got this. Remember walk, sip toot, repeat.

Slippers are nice. They gave me stockings cause I guess my legs swelled up. Earphones are definitely a must and an extension cord for your phone charger. I didn't change into my PJs as the iv would get in the way but it wasn't the best fit .They do have some that open at the top of the shoulders so they can go around the iv tube.
Good luck on your surgery!

Yay @ surgery coming up so quickly!!
I did change into my comfy clothes almost as soon as I got to the room. I was happy to have them. I brought slip on shoes and am not a sock person anyway. That was perfect for me. I also spent much time on my phone rather than reading and had pre-downloaded some movies and shows on Netflix. I brought my headphones.
For my phone charger, i brought an extension cord because otherwise it wouldn't reach the wall. That was my fav item!!
I also brought lip balm and hand cream, and had my sis bring a pillow for the car.

Take your own tp, a few premier shakes, basic things like toothbrush and toothpaste. I took some cleansing wipes. If you have a smart phone and your hospital has wifi get a free trial to Netflix. Lots of underwear. I used the hospital gown most of the time because I had a drain.
I hope it all goes smooth!
I wore baggy comfy clothes to the hospital so wore same ones home, took change of underwear. wore hospital gown, took house coat and slippers for walking around (didn't have a house coat big enough so took DH's) was only in for 21 hours so didn't need much else, due to the impact of the anesthesia, and pain meds, spent any time not walking dozing/sleeping, didn't read the book I took. Biotine & Lip Balm, facial wet wipes.
Good luck it will be over quick.

My bathrobe. An extension cord and charger for my phone. Slippers. Toothbrush and toothpaste. I was the first procedure of the day on my day of surgery, so I just brought fresh undies and wore the clothes I wore to the hospital home. My hospital provided those nasty non-slip socks, but I hate them. Hence, my slippers. Good luck.
