Good news and bad

Well I'm down 30 pounds since starting optifast March 1, and now onto mushy food, which feels really good in my tummy.

however, as I was sitting down to my first solid food in 7 weeks last Thursday the phone rang and it was the surgeon. I thought it was nice of him to call to check in on me, but no, that wasn't why he was calling.

the blood work they did after surgery showed "involvement with B-cells, suggesting lymphoproliferative disease" which he says might mean a variant of lymphoma. Which is a group of diseases ranging from Hodgkin disease, which is highly treatable, all the way to severe leukaemia. All cancer.

ive been referred to a hematologist, god knows how long that will take. Looks like I may be losing a lot more hair than I expected, and a lot more weight, too.

feeling pretty punk, and can't even eat for comfort.

Oh Pauline, that is scary. I'm so sore you're going through this.

The really good news is that without this surgery, they would not have found it, and you would not be getting early treatment. And like you said, there is a high likelihood it's a treatable variety.

I am so sorry to hear this. I know it's easy to let your mind go to the worst possible outcome but you said that he said it "might mean" a variant of lymphoma. There are a lot of possibilities. Try to stay positive and not pani****il you have something to panic about. I know that is so much easier said than done, but for your sake, please try. Sending you a big hug!

That's never good to hear that kind of news, hopefully it will be the simplest case and you can get treated right away. Early detection is always important in these situation. Sending you lots of positive vibes and prayers

Hugs. Good news is they caught it early. Some slow growing cancers are well controlled by medication. I work with a lady that has been diagnosed with a chronic leukemia. They put her on medications and she is doing fine last few years.

It's amazing the amount of things we are finding out about our health(that otherwise we may not find out right away), because we are constantly having blood work and other tests done. I was diagnosed with something last week too (not ready to share though) and it is only because of all of the tests as a WLS patient that I found out.

I wish you the best and hope that you are able to surround yourself with the love and support you need right now.
