Packing for the Hospital?
So does anyone have any neat tips or ideas for items to pack in the hospital?
I remember all these wonderful packing list ideas back when I was going in to have my kids hahaha.
I know we'll only be in there a day or 2 max if all goes well, and most of that time I expect we are stoned out of our gourds on painkillers... but anyone have suggestions for that one thing that made it more bearable?
I soooo need sleepphones so I can put on white noise and get some sleep, so that will be a thing.
My beloved Kobo in case I am feeling up to reading. Hope so!
Warm socks and slippers / crocks to do walks in
A robe so my arse isn't hanging out of my hateful gowns while doing those laps
Anything else anyone suggests? I am an overpacker, I admit :D I like to be prepared and comfortable! haha
Honestly, do NOT overpack.
I brought a book, Ipad, Cell phone etc.. thinking I was going to be all up and about..
The only thing I did during my hospital stay was try and walk, eat when it came (the oh-so-yummy clear fluids) and sleep.. I slept a lot.. it was fantastic lol. I hated even checking my phone I was so tired.
You most likely won't be on too many painkillers - really, there was no grande pain post op for me - just discomfort but nothing a regular Tylenol wouldn't help.
Don't even bring socks - they will give you socks you put on for Surgery - those fashinoable green/blue ones - just wear them - they have a grip on the bottom so you can walk in them too. Just bring clothes to wear home - loose fitting sweats and shirt and a pair of shows you can leave in..
Honestly, the stay will pass in a blink of an eye..
When is your surgery?
A
Earplugs and a sleep mask came in handy for me. I brought a phone charger so I could stay in touch with my husband (surgery was in a different city) and that was all I needed. Remember walk, sip, toot, repeat.

Biotene was something I was glad I had. Severe case of dry mouth after surgery....and the air was so dry in the hospital.

Hey there! Yay @ packing for the hospital. :)
I was super tired but very alert, so was very glad to have what I brought. My family and friends brought me magazines, but I didn't do a lot of reading.
I did spend a lot of time on my phone, texting and emailing, which is normal for me.
My four most valuable items were: an extension cord (so I could recharge my electronics right from my bed); a change of clothes (loose fitting capris and tank top that I got into right when I got to the room... before the nurse connected me to everything- I was so comfortable- it worked for me); lip balm; and hand cream.
As for overpacking or not... do what feels right. Someone else will be carrying it anyway!!! Make sure you bring a pillow for yo car to hug on the drive home. The bumps really hurt. :(
