Hi everyone, thank you in advance for all your advice :) I am in week 3 (pureed) and although I have read about the 3 week stall it still doesn't prepare you for the reality. I am just wondering if I am doing things right. I am eating about 400 calories a day and trying to keep my carbs under 20. Protein is 60-70 g per day. I am following my book to a tee but I am feeling the need to add in some apple sauce or fruit. Craving salads and veggies etc. Do my macros sound about right. I had good weight loss the first couple weeks but only down .5 this week. Just need some validation ;) thanks so much.

You are doing fine, everything seems right. I have found that weight loss is not linear, it's more in steps. I think it is because your body needs to readjust. Your calories and macros sound good at 3 weeks out. Get your fluids in and just ride it out. You've got this.

Sounds like you're doing good the Puree stage was hard as the things you could add were in many cases higher in calories and carbs. I'm still craving salad/crunch things at 7 weeks out but have been told to wait till 3 months, I've had a couple of baby carrots well munched, but my pouch has liked me so far so I don't want to pu**** The stalls are regular for everyone, this too shall pass.

Hey there, it sounds like you're doing great!

400 calories is pretty low to maintain. I wouldn't be worried to go up to 600 at this point. You'll have days where you go up a bit from that too... but for me, 600-650 was a good target range once I was eating purée. Many days it was lower; I just didn't force myself to keep it lower. Our bodies need the nutrients.

I was also eating vegetables at the puréed stage. Low carb veg, like broccoli and cauliflower, spinach. I'd add some onions and carrots to stews too. But found my body really needed the fibre and nutrients of veg. Cooked and puréed in my meals worked well for me. I also ate quite a few beans. Yes, they are high in carbs, but a very complex carb, and so nutrient and fibre rich, it was and still is worth it to me.

I had a 3 week stall. It's real. I stayed the course, and the weight started falling off again. As you may have read in my other posts, I am less than 8 months out, down 109 lbs... I eat fruit almost daily too. It was too sweet for me at 3 weeks post op though, so I wouldn't recommend it yet. Baby steps!! Small portions. Listen to your body... but make healthy choices. This is good for life.

Stalls are temporary. Good luck!!

I think you are doing fantastic! Right on track! Your macros are excellent to me. That is what I followed as well. Very low calorie (my body had lots of fat to live off I didn't need high calories), very low carb, I kept mine 10 grams and under and tons and tons of liquids. You are doing great for protein!!!!

I would advise against fruit, but you do what works for you. Fruit has a lot of natural sugar in it so that natural sugar turns it carbs in our bodies. Sugar = carbs. That is what you are trying to avoid right now.

Trust me I get missing salads, I was not allowed salads until I was three months out. It was really hard to hang on that long but I did. Once I did start eating veggies my pouch did not like carrots or cucumbers.

As CC mentioned a lot of lose weight in a stair step. You lose, stall, then you go down some weight, stall, go down some weight, stall. Its quite common. Stalls are frustrating as hell but its kind of an unspoken rule of WLS that we all go through, I went through it too and I went from a high of 280 to a low of 125 and I maintain at 125lbs. You can do it!

If you want some applesauce I suggest you get the SF (Sugar Free) kind and put in a teaspoon or so of unflavored protein powder to kick up the protein. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and enjoy.

In the end its all about low calories (again I remind you all that our bodies have lots of fat to sustain us, no one is fading away when you are a fresh post op), low carbs and drink liquids like its your job.

Best of luck, keep up the great work!

you aren't stalling. .5lbs is a loss. and it is normal. your protein looks great...congrats. Make sure your water is getting in as well.

I'd work on getting calories up. I didn't feel normal until at 800 (8 weeks post op). add your veggies if you can fit them in (pureed of course) you can use all the nutrients you can get. sugar free applesauce would have been too acidic for me so early on.
