I'm not sure what happened but my original post didn't publish the whole thing....

I had my check-in with the dietician this week. I am 6 weeks post-op. I have been getting around 550-600 calories, 60g protein and 30g of carbs. The dietician told me I should be eating 1000-1200 calories, 60-80 protein and 130 carbs. I'm very uncomfortable going this high. I would like others opinions.

I think 60 grams of protein for 6 weeks out is great. I would not go any higher than 600 calories, I would probably try to keep it at 450-550 max. Right now getting in the protein is not the most important thing, getting in your water (at minimum 64 oz a day) getting rest and keeping your calories low.

Best of luck.

There's no way I'd go that high at 6 weeks. I could barely get that much in still that few weeks out. I'm not sure how the dietitian would want you to double your calories.

Are you hungry? Are you having issues with weight loss?

That's what I thought. No I am not hungry at all and they said my weight loss is on the top end. I think I will let my body guide me.

I think I was told the same thing, but I basically ignored it. I never counted calories until about a month ago, and then I did it for about 2 weeks. I was on a stall and did it to see if that was the problem. Turns out I averaged around 900 a day. I just make sure I have lots of protein, lots of water, no starchy foods, no sweets, no processed food, lots of veggies and some fruits....I don't know, it seems to work for me.

Hi Murt!

I got similar advice and asked her how I can do this when I am only able to eat 1/4 cup of a short list of food, protein first. I was drinking, also taking in the required grams of protein, and eating what and when I was supposed to and didn't have a hope in eating the amount of food that she was suggesting.

I believe it's important to following your program, listen to our healthcare team and ask questions, listen so what some say on the site as sharing our experiences is important, but taking everything with a grain of salt and listening to our bodies as the greatest indicator as to how successful we are being.

I think you are doing well - just keep following your plan and going through the stages as outlined.

Congratulations on your success so far!

Wow I can't imagine eating as much as they are telling you in just a week. I asked at my 1 month follow up how many calories we should be eating and they wouldn't give a number as they said people focused to much on the bottom line instead of portions. The centres are so different.

I would be surprised if you could get all those calories in without feeling like a stuffed sausage. I am four and a half months out and I do abt 70-90 protein and abt 800-1000 cals a day. I am starting to feel some hunger but it is quickly satisfied with some nuts or cheese.
