Day after surgery- update

Surgery was the easy part (at least I didn't feel it). dr Gmora decided to go with the sleeve on me as my stomach was nestled in behind my rib cage. I'm ok with that. So now the hard part. I can seldom get comfortable, I can't pee on my own, taking in water is a chore. I've sat on my drainage bag from one of the incisions twice and popped the cap. I'm so tired, it's coming up 6am the day after surgery and I was lucky to get 4 hours of sleep. The pain in my diaphragm would wake me up every time. Oh and the gas! It's not even a lady burb, it's an all out assault! Thank goodness I have a room to myself or I would be doing a lot of apologizing.

It gets a lot better. Day 2 and 3 were okay days, but by day 4 and 5, I almost felt normal again.

I had Dr Gmora as well and was at St. Joe's. The second night they gave me a sleeping pill. Ask for one so you can get decent sleep before you go home. Congrats!

I'm so sorry to learn you're having a rough start. The first few days are quite difficult. It will improve every day, even though right now it doesn't feel like that's possible.

Hang in there. Rest as much as you can. Let the gas rip. Walk when you can. Know it will get better. And welcome to the loser's bench. :)

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Choose happy.

Hi Squishy! The "letting go" is a good thing it means it isn't staying inside which is way way worse. Try to walk as much as possible and that gas will get going good and the air around you will smell like nuclear waste! Stay on top of your pain med schedule for the first couple of days, heroes are not required at this stage of the game. The constant sipping is a challenge for everyone so you are not alone but it does get easier every day. Nice to see you haven't lost your sense of humour!

I know the newbies check the trackers and the signatures so although I kind of lost track of how the rest of the weight came off, you should know that it was not fast and furious but it was slow and steady!

current BMI 24.7 that, my friends, is NORMAL!!! Strong is the new pretty!

It will get better! I won't lie, I had issues getting the gas to come out and some tears were shed. But now i'm 6+ days post op and although still sore and having some discomfort I cannot believe how quickly I've turned around.

Take it moment by moment and know that this bad time will not last long. Try to move around, it helps. And keep up with your sipping the best you can.
