Eating too much 18 days out

I'm now on the purée stage and from reading on the forum I feel I might be eating too much. My protein target is 90-100g per day

I have a premier protein (30g protein) shake in one sitting (can take up to an hour but I drink it and don't have to keep coming back to it). I also have the splash drink once a day (24g protein)

If I have a source yogurt for breakfast I can also eat that in one sitting taking about 15-20m to eat or a scrambled mushy egg with a cheese triangle in it (again around 20 mins). When I've pureed chicken or salmon i measure it into 1/4 cup portions but I'm often not full/satisfied after this and have on occasion had 1/2 cup. I haven't introduced fruit or veggies really yet and I'm sticking to protein only (although most of my carbs come from dairy products milk/yogurt)

From other threads I've read on here I'm having more than I should at this stage (surgery was 3 weeks ago this coming Tuesday). I'm hitting my fluid goal and my protein goal most days sitting around 500-700 calories. I'm in a panic now that I'm not doing things right and I'm looking for some advice.

Dont focus on calories this soon out. Your nerves were cut so you wont get that "full" sensation immediately. Stick to the guidelines provided by your center dont eat more. Allow your body to heal. Focus on protein and liquids. Puree some veggies. Theyre great

It's more that I've had 1/2 cup of puréed protein sometimes and not a 1/4 cup which I've now read is what I should be having.

Don't panic! I was eating that much at 3 weeks out too. I found that during the pureed phase I was able to eat sometimes more than 1/2 cup at a time, but it topped out. I'm now 6 weeks out, and it has mostly settled at that 1/2 cup size, though occasionally and with some foods, it can vary (some things less, some a little more). As for calories, I've been at 500-700 a day too, and it's all good.

We all heal at different speeds, so comparing with others will just make us worry without really being helpful. I've been totally doing the same thing, but I'm trying to stop - it's just a new way for us to beat ourselves up!

You got this, don't worry!

It takes me about an hour now to finish a premier as well and 20 mins for a yogurt. But I set a timer for 30-40 mins for chicken and fish and make myself slowly take bites and chew forever for at least a half hour with the meat. 40 mins if it's a new meat. I only do a 1/4 cup of those but maybe adding 2 tbsp of veggies will help you. I'm probably feeling full/satieted because it takes so long to eat. After the 1/4 cup are you really still hungry, like your belly is saying it's hungry or is your mind not satieted because it feels it should be eating more? That's what I realized when I thought I should take more than a quarter cup. My calories are around 400 but one day I did go higher, I'm less worried about calories than staying within portions so nothing stretches. If you do feel the need to eat more than a 1/4 cup why not just have a 1/4 cup and 2 hours later have more so you're breaking it up a bit. I did have a third a cup of refried beans the other day but that was because I mixed a quarter cup of beans with smooth cottage cheese. I do think thinner things like that and yogurt can be more than a quarter cup.

Interesting how plans vary mine says 1/2 cup max so I've been sticking to that.

I haven't had any hunger, but sometimes especially have to remember to eat on weekends, when my schedule changes.

As it happens I went and got my book out and it says 1/2-3/4 cup for each meal (4-6oz). I will panic less. I?m not having ?bad? food and I?m following my plan. I think I might introduce a couple of tsp of puréed veg soon (soup hasn?t sat well since my surgery even trying nearly every kind available it makes me vomit).

I was able to eat a lot too. ...still can, and I've lost 75 pounds so far. Everyone is different. I worried about that a bit too, but I've stuck to the protein I'm suppose to have and fluids I'm suppose to have and things have worked out for me. The feeling of fullness will come, in the meantime, stick to the plan! You will do great!
