nail polish in the OR room
I was told by the pre- op nurse that nail polish is generally not allowed in the OR room but it's up to the individual anesthesiologist. Why would that be?

Because the oximeter won't work properly.
It's the thing they out on your finger to measure the amount of oxygen in your blood. With nail polish covering your nail beds it makes it difficult to get a proper reading.
I haven't been without nail polish in quite some time. I'm going to feel naked after I take it off. Oh well, gives me a reason to hit the salon after surgery for a little pampering

All nail polish, fake nails etc. need to go.
It's also because they watch the colour of your nail beds. That gives them an idea about your oxygen levels as well.
