Got call to meet surgeon

I'm so excited!! So my name was sent in on Thursday (march 8) and today I got the call. I'm in Hamilton and I'm going to be meeting Dr. Gmora on April 4th. Has anyone had their surgery with him? What was your experience? They said I would be signing consents during this appointment but will I also get a surgery date or is that later? Anyways I'm very excited, he has great reviews on ratemds so I'm not worried.

I had my surgery with Dr. Gmora. I didn't meet him until just before the surgery. I had my "meet the surgeon" time with Dr. Hong. So...you won't necessarily get the same surgeon for your surgery as the one you will meet with - it depends on what date for surgery they give you. Right after you meet with him, then you will go out to the receptionist and she will give you a date. They weren't giving out dates when I was there last September because there was a "backlog". I asked to be on the waiting list. She had called and left a message before I even got home, that there was a spot within a few days. I was very lucky though. I was told I did not need to have optifast, therefore they were able to give me a cancelation appointment very soon. I hope all goes well with you. If you happen to get Dr. Gmora, then I am sure you will do just fine. Everything has been excellent for me since surgery. I have heard that Dr. Hong is good too.

I am also through Hamilton. I met with Dr. Hong back in December 2017. 9 weeks later I got a call and they gave me a surgery date of March 17th with Dr. Gmora. I haven't met him but he comes highly recommended based on my Google search. I was told yesterday during my pre- op appointment that the Hospitals funding for bariatric surgery is coming up so it is quite possible that you will get a date for surgery at the same time.

I just had Dr Gmora in Feb. He is great and also has a good bedside manner. You should have no problems if he performs your surgery. Good luck.

One of my very good friends had Dr. Gmora for her surgery two years ago. She said he was an extremely nice guy and she had no problems whatsoever with her surgery. She has maibtained a 145 lb loss (VSG). You're in good hands.
