Haircuts to minimize hairloss
Hey everyone,
So I'm in the thick of the hair loss period, and I've been hearing that cutting your hair short can help, especially once the regrowth starts since there isn't as much to catch up to.
Is this true? And how short are we talking about? And does it run any risk of making any "heavy loss areas" more visible?
My hair is shoulder length right now, and I'm pretty open to whatever, but I wanted to know what people have experienced before I do anything.
Hope you're doing well!
Kayla
Go for the pixie! I've had a choppy pixie for about 20 years. If it's too flat I just goop it up. I'm just about at the hair falling out stage so that's what I'm sticking with.
P.s. I haven't had to brush my hair in about 20 years either. Wash, rub dry with a towel and style with fingers.

I started to get hair loss about a month ago ( 4 and 1/2 months out?). It was really bad. Lost half my hair. It seems to have stopped now though. I decided to let my bangs grow out because they were really thin. Thinking today however and having them cut again...can't stand them in my eyes. I don't think I will cut the rest of my hair though. I think I will recover!

I am 5 months out and noticed my hair loss started at about 3 months. This may sound strange but I did it really helps me to not freak out about how much I'm losing and keep track. Ever week when I weigh in (for me this is Friday) I empty the hair from my brush and take a photo of it before tossing it in the garbage. That way I can see exactly how bad the loss is and I'll know exactly when it starts to get better and slow down (still waiting for that!!). For me if I couldn't tell but knew I was losing I'd just start freaking out and thinking I was going bald. This is helping me not to. My hair is long and I try to have it trimmed every couple of months (about 3" off) to keep it healthy but I'm not planning on chopping it all off or going shorter to a bob for example unless things get really bad. Hoping it slows after month 6-8.
