Baby after bypass
Just wondering if anyone had any issues with pregnancy after bypass? I have a child, we want one more. Obviously I will wait at least two years after the surgery. Just curious what others experience was. Thanks
Hi! I just had my baby almost 8 weeks ago. I had surgery 3 months before getting pregnant. Yes, i was on birth control.
I was a high risk pregnancy due to the rapid weight loss i experienced as well as my mal absorbtion putting my baby at risk for mal nourishment. Its very tough as we dont eat a lot at all. I had to try and get 1200 calories a day and struggled the whole 9 months.
My baby came 10 days early and is very healthy. I gained 7 lbs and have lost 33 su ce giving birth 8 weeks ago!
Breatsfeeding for me is impossible as i dont have enough nourishment to even create the supply.
Anyquestions feel free to pm me!!

I don't have a child but my husband and I do want to try after 18 months/2 years. With this I was upfront with my doctor's and the nurses. I have some other health issues that put me in the high risk category so I had already met with the wonderful doctors at McMaster. They confirmed that post surgery and full recovery we are still considered high risk due to limited consumption and absorption issues. I should note that it just involves more monitoring during pregnancy and that they are confident it would be a healthy and successful pregnancy.
