Sorry, I don't have answers for you, as I haven't seen the social worker yet - but wanted to say WELCOME! This board is very helpful and supportive and I'm sure you'll get an answer soon.

Jenn,
First of all welcome and glad you have joined us. This is a great forum.
What I recall is they ask questions to get a sense of your expectations, history and supports that you have to help you succeed.
St. Joes Hamilton - Referral June 16, Orientation Aug 16, Group Dietitian May 5, Nurse May 15, Social Worker Aug 15, 1:1 Dietitian Aug 15, Medical Internist Sept 18. Meet Surgeon Nov. 2/17 Preop Feb 12/18 Surgery Feb 16/18
My Social work appointment covered supports, affordability, etc. They seemed concerned that you had supports in place for when you had your surgery, and covered financial affordability issues, I don't have disability at work so am using a combination of sick days and holidays to cover my time off, they were concerned about how I'd manage if I had to be off longer than planned, and would I be able to afford the vitamins/supplements and food.

They all spend some time discussing your mental health and coping strategies. If you suffer from any mental heath issues they want to know that you are able to cope with what's going to be happening.
My best advice to you is to be honest in all your answers. They are not trying to disqualify you. They are assessing you and sorting out what they need to do for you to be successful.
Good Luck.

Welcome Jenn!
I really enjoyed the social worker appointment - one of my favourites actually. I found the social worker to be extremely supportive, and really compassionate about the whole process. There are no intimidating questions. The answers you have already gotten were my experience as well - they are assessing our suitability, but also acting as support. They will want to ensure you have affordability for the vitamins and shakes, and support in your life for the surgery. It is not a high pressure appointment (really, none of them are).
Like SweetRide said: be yourself. :)
You got this!
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Choose happy.
