Hello everybody, newbie here. Got my surgery date for March 12. Started optifast three days ago (yuck). Still trying to decide if I should go through with this! Any advice appreciated.
I say go for it! It is LITERALLY the best thing I ever did for myself.
Good luck to you in whatever you choose.

Welcome to the forum!!
I'm still awaiting surgery. Look forward to hearing about your journey.
Welcome! I had surgery on September 1, and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. My life has changed completely. My health has improved dramatically, I move with so much more ease, I started dating a great guy a couple of months ago, and I'm down over 85 lbs already.
You need to decide for yourself... it's not a decision that should be taken lightly. The surgery is just a tool and you have to be ready to make the lifestyle changes. And, ready to shed the weight! I wasn't before this stage of my life.
If you are... jump in. It's the ride of a life. :)

Absolutely go through with it. Am ten years out from surgery and haven't regretted anything, gained ten years of wonderful life. Had cancer but was in better shape and health to fight it and become a survivor.
Come join us ! You won't regret it. You will survive your optifast and so many other minor things, unimportant when you look back and realize the journey you embarked on was so worth it!

If you have gone so far as to get a surgery date, then you know the answer to your question. Deep down inside there is that little healthier you just screaming to get out.
Take your shake one at a time and think about all the good things that are about to come your way.
It just so happens that I got a surprise this morning from my mom stating that she understands why I am doing this and she supports me 110%! In fact she is now talking to her doctor about WLS.
Its not a good thing.. it?s a great thing. Embrace it
