I started my weeks of Optifast yesterday, I find it tastes really good. Is it normal to feel very hungry while on it? Sometimes I feel sick as if I haven't eaten in days. Also it says to have 2L of water including optifast, sorry if this is a stupid question i just want to make sure I do not screw it up. Does it mean your four optifast drinks plus an additional 2L of water? Or do you count the 1200ml of optifast with the 2L?

I was hungry try on Opti all the time. Just a warning if you start to get hangry and not feel so well around day 3 that is normal. It passes. Around week 2 I started to feel really weak.

I took it as 2 L on top of Opti. They want you to float away.

Thanks for the info, I started yesterday and I think I only drank about 1.2L plus the Optifast

I have another question, I will be stopped the optifast 2 days before surgery. They never told me what can I eat from when I'm finished until my surgery?

What you do the last 2 days before surgery depends on what hospital, I was told to have my last Optifast at midnight the night before as my surgery isn't till the afternoon, but some hospitals want you to switch to clear fluids for 2 days before.

I've been drinking way more that the 2 litres, I figure if I sip water or other no-cal beverage constantly it takes my mind off not eating.

I found I wasn't really hungry after a couple of days, but it took a week to figure out the best spacing for my shakes.

Good luck you can do this.

I was hungry for the first 4 days of Opti. I believe you will be on clear non calorie fluids (water, decaf tea and coffee black, broth) for 2 days before surgery. Drink lots of water (2L plus) and never trust an Opti fart.

Congratulations! Yes it's normal to be hungry the first few days of Opti. Stick with it. Your body will go into ketosis and you won't be hungry anymore. :)

As for what to have the two days before surgery, contact your centre for specific instructions. This is a very important step.
