I had my gall bladder removed almost 10 years before my RNY surgery (last week) I'd also had a hysterectomy less than a year ago. I still had the RNY but knew a sleeve was possible if I had too much scaring onow they opened me up.

I did did not have a sleep study as I did not snore prior to surgery. Each clinic has their own guidelines. If you snore, it might be a good idea to ask you primary care doctor for a referral.

Good luck!

I too had my gallbladder removed several ago. It was done laparasopically. Scar tissue is definitely the concern however, the biggest concern was how was it removed. My surgeon wanted to know if it was done laparoscopically or through a laparotomy. The laparotomy causes the biggest issues.

I too knew that a sleeve was a possibility but all was well and I got the RNY.

I had a sleep study done because I was so exhausted all the time (not because of neck size). Also, I had my gallbladder removed about 8 years ago. No one at the clinic mentioned that it would ever be a problem for surgery.

Hope this helps.

I did not have to have a sleep study done. My surgery was at TWH, through the Windsor Clinic.

I had my gall bladder removed years ago, my RNY went off without a hitch!

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!

My centre had me fill out the stop/bang questionaire. If you score 3 or more they send you for a sleep study. www.stopbang.ca

I have had my gall bladder out before surgery...and also have had a tummy tuck done before WLS.. and they had no problems at all... I would do a sleep study on your own.. just so it doesn't hold up the process in case they want one...

there can be a long wait to get one done

I also had to fill in the stop bang questionnaire and was convinced they'd still want a sleep study even though I didn't score high enough to need one. They didn't ask me to do a sleep study.

I had my gallbladder out 6yrs ago. The surgeon asked how it was done and said "well that makes things easier long term" so he wasn't concerned (nor was he concerned about my appendectomy or csection).
