Healthy BMI

So with the nurse we were talking weight loss goals. She advised that a realistic goal is to be go from morbidly obese to overweight. That is my goal for the 1st year post surgery. However, I wonder has anyone been able to get to a normal BMI (18 to 25) and maintain it. Once again, that's not my goal for the 1st year, but I wonder if post the first year if that's realistic. My ultimate goal would put me at a 23-24 BMI.

Anyone achieve and maintain a healthy BMI with moderate effort (following post surgery diet plan + moderate exercise)?

I am oh so close (currently 26 BMI) but I've been hovering at the same weight (2lb range) for the past 8 wks. I hope to eventually crack through to that 25 BMI. Many others on these boards have.

Good to hear!!! I know the nurse probably wants us to have a realistic expectations and exceed our goals, but she made it seem like being high 130s for 5'3'' was not attainable at all. I'm in the 260s now, but I hope to get to 240s by surgery date. The overweight/obese cusps is the 170s, so that is my goal for the 1st year, then to spend the next year going from 170s to 130s.
