Bowel posts seem to be far too common on here so don't worry. And I'm almost 9mths post-op and still have BM issues (use restoralax daily). I think its one of the common things that happens after changing how we eat so drastically.

Booo on the need for restoralax daily...probably hard for us to get the same levels of fiber as before too with such protein forward diets. I'm curious as to whether there are any issues with taking restoralax/Metamucil/benefited daily long term?

restoralax is safe to take daily for ever it is non habit forming and this came from the dr. Restoralax draws water from your bowels into your stools to keep them soft and moving its gentle enough to use on babies and is highly recommended by drs. Benefiber is useless unless you can get enough water / fluids in, it will actually make your stools turn to cement if you do not get enough fluids (coming from a few different drs) i dealt with major constipation for 11 months after my surgery. the only thing that worked for me is 1 or 2 capfuls of restoralax daily and a high strain probiotic that i open the capsule into my protein shake. You might want to switch to restoralax before surgery it might help with the constipation you do not want to go into surg ery constipated. If you cant get the bowels working you need a suppository or milk of magnesia take a few doses over 24 hours and drink a ton of fluids and it will make you go.

that is why I switched to restoralax. At my 3 month appt I told the NP that I was still taking stool softener daily and she suggested I switch over as restoralax is perfectly safe for daily use on a long term basis.

Oh Silly Stitch of course we want to talk about poops! That Benefibre will save your life. Ask your NP but I ended up taking the fibre each evening and in the afternoon as well. Do not suffer and if you are a bit sluggish now after surgery it may happen as well, so be prepared! Once you are back on solids you should be okay I am but my poopy patterns are completely different from what they used to be. PS get some baby wipes in for after surgery, a little luxury goes a long way! lol

I was not a fast loser but who cares as long as you get there! I know the newbies check the trackers and the signatures so although I kind of lost track of how the rest of the weight came off, you should know that it was not fast and furious but it was slow and steady!

current BMI 24.7 that, my friends, is NORMAL!!! Strong is the new pretty!
