Need a PCP or Family doctor in Toronto for blood test
Good morning
I'm from Switzerland and from mid June 2018 until summer 2019 I'm studying in Toronto. I got my RNY in December 2010 and I'm just feel great about the chance I got.
My doctor back here recommended that I also have my half-yearly blood tests done in Toronto. Now I'm searching for a Family docotor or a PCP in Toronto wich is familiar with blood testing and supplements after a RNY-surgery.
Does anyone have an idea - for a doctor in the GTA?
Thank you for your support and best regards from Switzerland!
Gabriela
Welcome Gabriela!
I am in Mississauga, so a bit of a hike from Toronto. If you don't find someone closer, and still need someone, let me know. My doctor is super supportive, and I have found him to be quite thorough.
Good luck!

Hi!
Welcome to our family. I have used the following link to find many different doctors. Also used this site to check their credentials. It's the Ontario College of physicians and surgeons website.

Hope this helps

Can you have your doctor there print out a list of all the blood work that would normally be requested there? Then worst case scenario you can go to a walk in clinic in Toronto and have them write up the requisition based on your normal testing. Just in case it could be good to have on hand. Would also allow you to double check that nothing has been missed if you do find a PCP here who isn't as familiar with it.

I'm happy to share with you what the bloodwork requisition is from Toronto Western Hospital, where I had my surgery, so any doctor can replicate it. I'm also happy to share the vitamins I take, per their guidelines.
I understand that moving countries is hard... while similar, there are differences.
Happy to meet up once you get here if that helps!! :)

Hi oneatatime
I got in contact with the TWH to ask they if thei can recommend me a doctor - unfortunately, they give me no information because first I have to have a family doctor who transfers me - but excactly this was my question to them....
I am very well-adjusted with my medications - it would be a routine test. I take the following stuff:
iron, b12, calcium with D3 and once a month I inject myself vitamin B12
This moving for a year is not hard - I'm really looking forward to the time in Toronto and it would be nice if we can meet once.
Gabriela
Sounds like you're super well adjusted! And yes... that's all the same vitamins we take.
No doubt you'll find a great doctor too. :)
