5 months - progress
Hi Everybody,
Today marks 5 months since surgery for me. I have included two pictures. One from last June, up at our property - three months pre-op, and one from today, just after my workout - 5 months post-op.
Anyway, it's been quite a journey. No problems at all. For the most part it has been relatively easy for me. I am started to feel like my weight loss has slowed down a bit. I am able to tolerate sweet things now, not that I am eating sweets, but I'm finding I am able to eat sweet fruit like dates and figs with no problem. I am still eating primarily protein, (cheese, chicken, turkey, beef, milk) and veggies as well as fruit. That's it.
I am feeling light, flexible, strong, and sexy. It's the absolute best feeling in the world! I am also feeling motivated, creative, determined, clear headed, and extremely happy!...also the best!
Today was a landmark weight for me. This morning when I got on the scale I weighed 163 pounds. I have lost a total of 68 pounds. I am 5'4". Up until about 20 years ago, I use to always weigh between 145 and 150. I remember distinctly one day going to the club where I use to work out, and having a fitness assessment. When I stepped on the scale I weighed 163 pounds. I couldn't believe I had gained so much weight. I was depressed and angry for letting myself go. Things only got worse from there. I gradually gained lots of weight, and had 2 pregnancies during this time. So..today marks that weight for me again, but now I feel like I will only go down (instead of up) from here. When I use to weigh 145-150, I was always wanting to loose that extra 10 or 20 pounds. Now, I feel that maybe that could be attainable after all. I do however have to remember that I am much older, and I know that my weight is shifting. However, I will make that decision when the time comes.
For today, I am very happy!
Barb

Way to go Barb! What a difference...you look great!!!
Funny how we can remember periods of time and exactly know how much we weighed at any given time.
I think our goals can be shifted and don't have to be finite. I'm now aiming for 160 (instead of 150) and maybe I'll change my mind again, but honestly since breaking into onederland, it is a whole new ball game for me. I haven't been this weight since I was 14 (long time ago lol) and how I carried weight back then, and even younger than 14 isn't going to be a fair assessment of how I will look now. I still had some growing to do. And yes, as we age our weight does change how it sits on us somewhat.
Your doing so well, keep up the wonderful job you are doing!
