The head hunger is strong
Day four of optifast and I'm feeling okay, haven't felt ill yet. But....it's the first day that I reaalllyyy want food. Probably not helpful that at lunch people were eating take out, pizza and fresh breadsticks, but it wasn't then that I really started needing food. Dinner time! All I want is a cheeseburger or a chicken breast, something real dammit lol. Three weeks is feeling like an insurmountable length of time tonight. I'm doing good at spacing shakes out and putting in broth/Popsicles/jello at times so I don't really get too hungry but my brain is thinking about real food. Head hunger tips??

That is my plan tonight. A Popsicle and then bed. Hoping it will be easier tomorrow. My fat brain has managed to negotiate itself in to believing that one plain chicken breast each night is a fair replacement for the shakes. I am not giving in but this fat brain is really hard to shake.
I took the dog out to play to distract and was going to read some but I can't shake the thoughts. Will get there!

I definitely haven't had enough water today so will have a bunch and hopefully that assists. Played outside with the dog today hoping to distract myself over dinner...damn cold makes it so unappealing to walk.

I almost ate a muffin yesterday without even thinking about it! I was in a meeting that was much longer than anticipated and they brought in pastries. I was like oh great and grabbed one and just before I was going to bite it I said oh no I can't eat this ð??-. I have set the calendar for the first day I can have real food with taste and picked my recipe to purée. I hang on to that. Plus Hamilton allows a green salad so I can chomp on that. Just remind yourself this is the worst part and soon you will eat again. I have 5 more days on OPTI. I'm counting down

Lol! It's just so natural to snack when something is near. It's a hard thing to resist for sure. Im having a little bit of a hard time with purées and how I'm going to do that because I'm not sure exactly what I want to purée. Never done that before. What are you making? 2 and a bit more weeks...so long.

I'm not going to make anything in advance as everyone keeps talking about how your tastes change and and getting stuck with stuff, if all else fails I can always buy some baby food. I know I'll be able to rely on my husband during that stage as he's semi retired and will be home with me.
I've bought enough protein shakes, powders to get started, then in I actually like the Premier Protein shakes I'll get my husband to pick up more at Costco. After all by choice I'd never have a Vanilla Optifast ever again, and I thought I'd probably like that one more. I tried adding coffee but wasn't too keen on that taste so my fall back now is about 1/2 tsp of cocoa, seems to cut the sweetness, I also add enough water to drink through a straw so I don't have to get my nose too close. But I got on the scale this am and have lost 12 lbs this week, realize its all water weight but it does make it seem worthwhile.
Good luck and keep at it. We can do this.

The vanilla is truly awful, I've been adding crystal light type things to give different flavour, so far I like pineapple/coconut, pomegranate and strawberry/banana. It just cuts the after taste a bit. I too am drinking with a straw, I mix them up with ice in the magic bullet. Much better. Very nice to see all the weight loss! Means we are doing it right.

I am glad someone else dislikes the vanilla! I just hated it and used one a day with SF strawberry syrup and drank it as fast as I could. Wait to puree, you may find smells and tastes as not the same right after surgery. I could not stomach PP shakes.
