Bariatric Clinic in London

Hey all...not sure how many people are from the London area but just wanted to pass along that there is suppose to be a bariatric clinic opening on London. Confirmed that LHSC has obtained funding for surgeries to begin soon, not sure when they might have the rest of the team up and running or if that is the plan but I'm hopeful. My surgery will still be Toronto but fingers crossed I could do follow ups in London rather than driving to Windsor clinic. Would be nice! Maybe this information will be helpful to others starting the journey or who also could ask to switch follow ups once the support team has been developed.

That's awesome! My mom would be interested in knowing this. She struggles with her weight and has thyroid issues. She doesn't drive so she didn't want to inconvenience me or my dad even know she knows it wouldn't be on either of us if she needed to get to Windsor.

Yay! Glad she could explore it now. It's true...great health facilities but we lack this. Surprising to me as well after noting how many people were from London on here and in my group sessions.

God that would be amazing. I just got my referral sent to Hamilton and I'm from St. Thomas. I'm entirely willing to go to Hamilton but London would be a dream!

It's so funny where they send people! I'm in north west London and I was sent to Windsor.

Jo - it is odd! My friend and I share the same Main Street that lead to our crescents around the block from each other and she got Hamilton and me Windsor. I have no idea how they determine it!

Fingers crossed it comes together quickly for you. Maybe by the time they get to your orientation they'll have something set up in London for nurse/sw/dietician. Even if not would be better to have the option to have at least the surgery here, so much closer to home when travelling post op. I know the surgeons at least are starting now.

Yes, that is correct! I had a repair of my original surgery at TWH and my surgeon told me at my follow up (beginning of January) that at the end of January he was moving to London to be a surgeon in their program. I had Dr El Nahas. He was great!

So good to hear great surgeons are coming our way! Also nice to know any complications I could have access to someone close to home if a repair was needed.

I wonder at what point I can request a transfer.
