Firstly,

I want to say "Hello". I've lurking for a number of months and I cannot say how much reading all of your stories/questions have helped me.

I had my appt with the nurse/dietitian/social worker last week. Internalist is booked Feb 7 and the surgeon has already pre-approved me for surgery and our last appt is Feb 12 to get my optifast and actually book a date.

It sure does move fast once the ball gets rolling!

I can see Costco seems to be a fav for getting supplements in bulk. I plan on stocking up once I get my date. But was curious what people recommend for the protein/whey supplements. They are a bit more subjective so wanted to ask my local Ontario people. I personally am a chocolate lover, but am open to any/all suggestions.

Lots of people buy Premier Protein from Costco. Sometimes it's on sale. My recommendation is don't buy too much before surgery. If you can buy samples (Popeyes, GNC, Nutrition House) it is better because so many of us have our tastes change after surgery and the last thing you want is to have a big tub of expensive protein powder and hate it.

the thing that is good with the Premier Protein from Costco is that it is pre-mixed, which can be a big help post-op. And you can reseal the little servings, which is good because you will never get a whole serving down in a sitting soon after surgery.

I agree with the above poster about trying samples. Everyones taste is so different. Right now I am enjoying Rivalus Chocolate Peanut Butter mixed with unsweetened Almond milk. Popeyes is good for this, they have a sampling counter in store, so you can try many flavours before purchasing. Bulk barn is also good because you can purchase a small amount of their bulk version to try.

Good luck with this super exciting time - and welcome to the boards here :)

The only ones I likely are the Syntrax nectar from the Fitshop in Ottawa (you order online and they deliver anywhere) or Unjury chicken soup (order from the US website but they deliver to Canada). I also like Protein2o which is more of a protein-enhanced water than a supplement but still really nice tasting and clear. You can order it from amazon.

I recently ordered some samples from www.canadianprotein.com. They have several flavors to try. They were 1.99 each and I didn't pay shipping. I only tried one so far, strawberry/banana. It was delicious!

I can't quite figure out the samples on www.canadianprotein.com where do you select the flavours you want to try? I know there are flavours down the left hand side but it doesn't look like the samples themselves show a specific flavour (I am likely being blind as a bat and just not seeing it).

Thank you all for your suggestions! Some very interesting flavours on that website. Going to order some samples now.

I actually have a Popeye's supplements reasonably close to me. Gonna go check them out as well.

What are the sort of the minimum requirements I should make sure any protein has?
