Consumed by the wait...
Wow. I really feel for you. I have gone through similar anxiety waiting and waiting. My best advice to you is keep super busy, call for cancellations, read lots of books, try to stay active, and visualize what your life will be like but remember that it will happen. Patience is a virtue!
All the best...
Barb

It is very difficult once you made your mind up about something to have to wait and wait. I have gotten lucky recently with appts that may give you some hope. I called every so often for a cancellation on my trio appts and was finally sucessful and given a date only 3 weeks from now and I have also been calling and calling to book the internist (Dr.Glazer)and I finally got through in person and she asked if I wanted to come that day. Although the initial wait from the referral was a pain I will have had all my appointments in a 4 month period. Everyone else I know who have gone through Humber recently have had the surgery a couple months or less after that. Good luck!!

sounds like you have had a similar situation that I have had. My family doctor didn't want me to get the referral until I had shown that I tried to lose the weight. Everytime I went and got weighed I was that much bigger. This last time I went in with a back up I had already talked to another doctor willing to do the referral but I really wanted it from my doctor he knows me and knows my history. He said yes so my referral as gone in. NOw I am doing the waiting game.
I've been thinking about this thread a lot this weekend. Although I'm further along in the process with my surgery date in 29 days (29 DAYS!!!!!) I'm utterly obsessed.
I'm boring the life out of my poor, long suffering, husband. I feel all I'm talking and thinking about is protein powders, flavoured vs unflavoured, ready to drink or powder. What vitamins will be easiest to take after surgery? How will I manage flying home from Toronto with a suitcase (even if it's smallish). The other one is "There is this one guy in one of my facebook groups that eats X to get his protein in - sounds easy enoguh" or "This woman in my RnY group said that she lost 200lb in a day" type of conversations (obviously I'm exaggerating with the 200lbs in a day comment). Followed up with the cracking "What if I die?" or the other "What if I can never eat anything tasty ever again" and the final "This is the very last time I can have this".
I'm starting to bore myself and I just can't wait to have this journey properly started. I'm not usually a patient person and the instant gratification of today's society is certainly strong with me. I know that this isn't about the destination it's about the journey and all that jazz but it's taking over my every waking thought.

I can't even imagine being that close to surgery so I completely understand why it has been all consuming for you. I also have some of the same thoughts you are having and I'm no where near my surgery date yet... especially the what if I die one. That one rings in my mind all of the time. I know you are a part of a lot of different forums and groups but if you'd every like to chat, text or go out for coffee let me know and I can private message you my number. I don't mind being a sounding board if you ever need one. All the best!
